Suggested feature: enable “Workout Options” during activity for sensor reconnection
-
@brave_dave but have you tried yourself or are just commenting without any experience? Because in most cases the watch actually reconnects to the sensors, it is only for some sensors that it’s still not working
-
@isazi
I do not perform updates anymore until I know that no major bugs are introduced or that introduced ones are fixed!
My first watch got corrupted during my second update and I had to live without it for 1 month until I got it replaced by a new watch. Then after another update I had the battery drain issue and right now I am stuck with another Bluetooth issue also reported often here, where I get constant short disconnects to my powermeter while it works flawless with my bike computer. So quite some bad experiences with new updates…
Therefore, I now switched to getting information if it is save updating to the new version or if I rather should stick with a reliable older one. For me it is important to have a working and reliable device as I can do without most of the functions introduced. -
@brave_dave then I cannot help you, commenting without actually experiencing the issue is just noise
-
@isazi
Yes, I also did not ask for any help from you, I just wanted to get information from the person who reported the issue and highlight that this is quite important for triathletes.
So actually in my eyes this is no noise but valuable information for other triathletes and also for you to detect the importance of the issue. But if you do not appreciate my input than I am sorry!

This post is deleted! -
@brave_dave your contribution to the noise is: keeping commenting how this is a deal breaker for you, and ALL triathletes, without providing useful information because you are not even using the product. I am trying to understand what the issue is and need answers from affected people
-
@isazi
This is your perspective because you want to fix the issue. Other triathletes might be happy to read my comment so that they can estimate how this update might influence their watch for triathlons to evaluate if they should rather stick with an older version to avoid stress and disappointment. You don’t want to experience such an issue if you are in an important race and then all of a sudden you realize that there is such an issue
As this is not a specific bug/issue fixing section therefore in my eyes this is no noise -
@brave_dave I use my Vertical 2 with:
• Elite Suito smart trainer
• Favero Assioma Duo power meter
• Stryd 4.0
• COROS HR
• Polar H10 HR
• Polar Verity Sense HR
• Garmin HRM 600I don’t experience issues with Bluetooth during short disconnections.
In the pool, HR straps often disconnect due to Bluetooth transmission limits in water, but they all reconnect immediately once the signal is available again.
I experienced a full disconnection issue once after moving away from the Vertical for about 15 minutes with the HRM 600 strap and Stryd. When I came back, I couldn’t reconnect the BT devices unless I stopped the activity.
In triathlon, this problem doesn’t occur: the HR strap and watch are always close, so long disconnections are unlikely. I use arm HR straps (even with a wetsuit), keeping them a few centimeters from the watch.
Also, I never use automatic multisport mode.
For cycling, I always use a dedicated bike computer, which is far better than any watch.

@Manuel-Extreme
Thanks a lot for the information!
When you use an arm strap than probably this is way better to keep the connection as both devices are above water during every stroke. I wear a chest strap and for me I usually lose connection during the whole swim part but when I get out of the water it used to directly reconnect. So if it deactivates and does not reconnect if I get out of the water I will not have any data. Also I like to have my power data transmitted to my watch to have everything in one activity but this then would also not work.I have constant 1s BT drop outs from both my Elite Direto and my power pedals to my watch while both have no issues broadcasting over Ant+ to my bike computer. You don’t have such issues?
I guess I need to do a couple of swim-bike race simulations before my first race to check if it works or stick with the approved firmware
-
@brave_dave No, fortunately I don’t experience continuous disconnection issues. It only happens in water due to the physical limitations of Bluetooth transmission. When the arm comes out of the water, the connection is restored automatically without any problems.
At least with the Vertical 2. Which device are you using?
