Suunto app questions for diving
-
Hi everyone,
I’m seriously considering getting a Suunto Nautic, as it seems to tick pretty much all the boxes for me: long battery life for dives, a big readable screen, and GPS to know exactly where I’ve dived. I really like data and the idea of tracking everything. Ideally, I’d love to fully digitalize my dive logbook, so I have a few questions about the Suunto app:
- Can you fully replace a traditional dive logbook with it?
- Can you add detailed info like weight used and equipment (e.g. suit), so you can track how much weight you needed in different conditions?
- Is there a way to track total dive count, including dives done before owning the device?
- Are dive sites automatically tagged via GPS, or do you have to edit them manually?
- Can you add photos to dives? If yes, is there a limit?
- What about videos?
From what I’ve seen, it looks like you can already add things like weights, suit, conditions, and even marine encounters in the log which is great, but I’m not sure how far it goes in practice.
Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Thanks @hhouter! Those are all wonderful news! Now I just hope Suunto will permit to use subsurface natively in the future…

@pavel.samokha are you aware of the possibility to Is to track total dive count, including dives done before owning the device? In some country this is needed to access to advanced diving classes
