Custom workouts: explanation of metrics

Hi community,
When i was setting up custom workouts (‘sport mode customization’), I was unsure how some of these metrics would work. Is there any guide where I can find descriptions?
Specifically, I would like to understand differences between laps (custom/manual) and intervals, the calculation logic of ‘HR slope’, difference between ‘rest time’ and ‘pause time’, etc.
I am new to Suunto, with the Vert 2 as my first watch. Great user experience with exciting customization options.
