Race S: Extremely high battery use rate
-
@snow
No way. One night with hr enabled is about 10% batter.
One full day with 1 to 2 hrs activity with gps is some 25%-30% at least -
Does this look a lot to you?
It is not ample, but given the small size and AMOLED with AOD it is ok. My Epix Pro 47mm that has about the same screen size, but a bigger housing, gets me one additional day…
Fenix 6S Pro, with a smaller housing, but MIP has been another day extra with about the same usage after 3 years of using it…

@2b2bff
But this is not the point. The point is that compared to first FW versioms now battery is crap. Before it was ok, now it not -
Besides the quite frequent 15% battery usage in 1 night (charge to 100% in the evening, wakeup with 85% in the morning), which can be mitigated by frequently rebooting my watch I now also had a annoying high battery usage during a hike.
I started the hike with 48% and a expected runtime of 13 hours. Aod is off. Gnss settings default and used navigation.
After almost 7 hours the watch went into battery emergency mode: no gps, no map, no heartratesensor. (The last one I couldn’t care less, but no navigation was quite annoying)
I ended the hike just over 7 hours with 1% left. A couple of minutes later it just shutdown. This is really far from the advertised and expected time.
(Unfortunate suunto doesn’t have ‘resume later’ so during stops I count pause the time but not the gps)

For me and my usage it is now 4 and has been 5 days… not a big issue - for ME…
“Crap” is different… -
Same here, yesterday evening 100%. Today early morning after 7 hours only 85%. I try soft reset and i will see

“Crap” is different…I am on the same boat.

@Miroslava, don’t do that; There is absolutely no difference, and you will spend time reconfiguring the watch.
-
@withManish did also soft and hard reset, seems the same.
-
you will spend time reconfiguring the watch.
Soft reset is a restart and not requiring a reconfiguration. Even if not cool, it can refresh watch memory/cache/etc…
-
For other watches people talk about a full cycle of discharge/charge, I will give it a try.
-
@André-Faria I went for a run in the forest today. I ran for 2 hours and 20 minutes and the battery only used 5%. It looks like it’s ok after the soft reset, let’s see.
-
Is this considered normal? Yesterday my wife went for a 5 hour hike with 100% battery and today she has 46% battery. In general the watch lasts only for 4 days max without any activities. It’s a bit frustrating to be honest.
-
@André-Faria but i have Race no Race S
-
@OutdoorMan No way, the Race S should provide 25-30h without Navigation and about 20h with. Highest accuracy setting and AOD on. Maybe doing a full discharge / charge cycle helps
-
So, I charged my Race S about 68 hours ago - 19.08. 21:00. It is now at 33%.
Sleep tracking, 24/7 HR, AOD, notifications enabled that each vibrate.2 tracked running activities with chest strap, in sum about 90min.
Is it amazing? No. Could it be better? Yes. Is it close to unsuable? Certainly not.
-
@2b2bff I think it is the same ist as on my vertical 2. I need to soft reset immediately after EACH charging, then battery usage is ok. I already opened a ticket at Suunto helpfesk on this.

@johann.fuehrer will try to see if it makes any difference…
