@snow Thank you for the link. Enabling CC English text of the Spanish narration told me that the running ‘dynamics’ will be available after the run, in the app. I doubt the older generation watches will get a live view of that data (like Coros had even on a Pace 2 if connected to a Stryd) since Suunto claim the hardware is too limited to get a proper FW update nowadays, but the V2 and R2 series probably will.

Anyway, it seems like a genuine upgrade otherwise and absolutely required, to comply with EU rules regarding public protection of HR data streams.

Joaquin has told in the Spanish Telegram channel that a dedicated Suunto App will be availiable for SV1, he has shown some images of it, so I understand that at least in the SV1 we will be able to see the values in live time.

@cosme.costa Ah, that’s cool! It is a ‘swings and roundabouts’ solution as usual (subtracting a precious Suunto Plus slot) but adequate when really curious about the ‘dynamics’.

PS: I really wish that Telegram channel would move into an open and less controversial arena…

Kudos Suunto for the update! I can only see the video by the end of the day, but will this new strap be compatible with the old sensor?

yes - and also the old strap is compatible with the new sensor 🙂

@Egika Yes but Joaquin has said that if you use the old belt with the new sensor you do not have the same accuracy…

@cosme.costa btw, glad it’s powered by a replaceable battery (CR2032) rather than a rechargeable one. About 460 hours.

I have been testing all combinations and could definitely not spot any difference in the belt used - given that it sits in the correct position.
The new belt is wider and has some more silicone printing to avoid slipping. It also has a nice logo print. But if the old belt is not worn out, it delivers the same data (it actually only serves as a contact of the sesor to the skin) as the new one.

@Egika Glad to hear its wider and has these silicone strips. The old one is moving up and down during the run - at least for me.

@snow Thank you! I am not sure if I am as super-excited as Joaquin is, but at least very excited.
The bigger battery is another plus and the price is absolutely reasonable with 99€. Can’t wait to get one.

@egika I own a SV1 and I’m interested in the diferent metrics that this sensor gives but not the SV1. I understand that the Suunto+ app mentioned by Joaquin is to see the real time data in the watch but I couldn’t find it yet. If I buy the new sensor, and the app is not availiable yet, how are the new metrics shown? Will they be shown in the activity summary?

                                      Thanks.

@Tieutieu Yes, I couldn’t order it from Suunto too, but a local CZ store has it, and I’ve already ordered it. I’m really looking forward to it.

Well, after some questions to Joaquin, as for now, the new metrics aren’t compatible with the SV1, it seems they will be. Only Race1 and newer watches can show them.
