New Vertical 2 battery issues
-
HI Lovely people
I have had my Suunto Vertical 2 since the end of August and purchased it to replace my old suunto vertical so I’m very familiar with the watch settings and battery consumption levels.
I am really disappointed with my new watch as the battery seems to be very erratic. Yesterday the watch had 32% battery and I was heading out for a run which was expected to be 5-7 hours which with my old vertical would have been no issue. after 3.5hours it flashed up to say 5 hours remaining with an option to switch to a power saving mode. as i wasnt expecting to be out for another 5 hours I ignored it. 1.5hrs later it went into what I would call emergency power save, no maps or HR and then 30mins later it completely died.
That evening I recharged to 76% at 10pm and at 6am it was at 62%. I had sleep tracking on but not the oxygen and it was also on do not disturb.
Prior to this it had been losing large amounts of charge when there was a higher battery level and then it seems to last longer the lower the battery level (I know that sounds weird)
It is up to date with latest software and the app too.
The app is set to background app refresh- but this was the same with my old vertical and it didnt seem to cause a problem
did anyone else experience this? -
There are more people complaining about battery live. I have similar for my race s. Suunto doesn’t read the forum. Please send your report to support@suunto.com to let them know they have work to do.

@elbee thank you. i contacted suunto support today via the live chat on their website and they gave me a link to a portal to send the watch back for a warranty review? but for the UK its saying this could take 2 months!

Yeh, that’s the problem with support (from every branch of sportwatch manufacturers I dealt with). They have no clue so they offer a hardware exchange. After that they can close the ticket and look good in the stats.
It’s not a hardware problem. It’s a software problem.

Please charge the watch again and let it reach 99–100%. Then disconnect it from the charger and press and hold the top button to perform a soft reset. After that, please monitor the battery consumption and see if the issue improves.

@Kraisun-Tunta thank you will try. last night I turned off the background refresh on the app in my phone and it only dropped 2%. not sure if that was the reason?

@Angela74 In my experience, I don’t think this is related to the background refresh on the phone app. The main issue I’m having is that there is no proper function to manage or monitor the battery status. Sometimes the displayed battery percentage doesn’t seem to reflect the actual battery level accurately.
I usually try to clean the charging contacts and, if possible, perform a soft reset after charging. Sometimes it feels like a minor issue, but at other times it can be quite annoying, especially when the battery percentage suddenly doesn’t seem reliable.
