Routes disappear from my watch - suunto vertical 2

@Angela74 are this routes synced by some third-party service?

@Angela74
I have exactly this problem on my 9 Peak Pro and it’s been happening for about a year.
I’ll check the night before a planned run or race (or sometimes only an hour before) that the route has synced to the watch. When I go to start the route - whether through the exercise menu or through the navigation menu - the route list is empty. If I manually sync from my phone they reappear but this isn’t always viable a few minutes before a race start or if I’m outside in pouring rain.It doesn’t matter what the source of the routes is - created in Suunto app, Strava or Komoot - all routes synced disappear. It doesn’t always happen but there’s no obvious pattern to when it does/doesn’t.
I’m also using IoS on an iPhone 13 mini.
I’d assumed this was just one of the many bugs the 9PP has been left with, so it’s interesting you’re seeing it on a Vertical and Vertical 2.

@MKPotts first time I hear about such an issue. Sounds like something is wrong, so I’ll report it. Now if it is firmware related, I doubt the S9PP will get it fixed (unfortunately), but if it affects 3 different watches with different firmware may be backend related. I never had this issue, so I would need the logs of someone else.

@isazi
At what point do you need logs to be sent? When I first discover routes have been deleted?It happened again this morning. The routes were definitely in the watch yesterday evening. I got up early to drive somewhere for a long run, checked before I left home and no routes were in the watch. I had to force sync from the app twice to get them back. All routes are still showing in the watch now (about 14hrs later), after recording and syncing an activity in the morning. I’ll check before my run tomorrow morning to see if they’ve disappeared again.
Understood there’ll be no direct fixes for the 9PP now - which is why I didn’t bother to report it - Angela’s post is the first time I’ve seen anyone else with the same issue.

@MKPotts you are both on iOS so it may be a problem with the App. It is better if you send logs after the routes disappear, I will then report it to Suunto.

@isazi
I’ve just checked my watch, routes were gone again, so I’ve sent logs to Suunto. I’ll send a dm with my account email address. -
@isazi hi please could you explain how we send logs? i’m new to this and not sure how to get a log or where to send it?
-
@isazi i also posted in a FB gorup and a few others had this problem too

In the app, under profile - settings - scroll down, there send logs to suunto.
After you send the logs, send an email describing your problem to support@suunto.com
Send it from the same email adres as is in your suunto account. They use that to match the logs and the description. -
@elbee thank you!

@isazi it happened again this morning but I was more observant about the steps. checked my watch first thing and the routes were there. I then went to the gym and did a cross trainer workout. after the workout I noticed the sync icon on my watch and the activity had transferred to the app but then when I checked if the route was there it had disappeared. its like the transfer of the activity wiped the routes? I was able to send a log to suunto but now need to send the email

Here’s my experience with my Suunto Race S:
Everything was working perfectly until this summer, when I started noticing that routes were disappearing from the watch, even though they appeared as active in the app. These were routes created exclusively within the app. It didn’t matter which routes or sport modes I used—they would just vanish.
After a while, and wondering what might have changed, I realized this issue started after I installed the maps for the Aquitaine region in France. So, I decided to uninstall them to see if that was the cause.
To my surprise, I found it impossible to uninstall that map. Damn! And the routes kept disappearing.
Then, I had the idea to reinstall the latest software version. That finally allowed me to uninstall the Aquitaine map. Since then, the routes have stayed synced on the watch!
Anyway, I don’t know if it was just a coincidence, or if the Aquitaine map actually had something to do with it (I installed the same map on my wife’s Race S, and nothing weird happened to hers), or if reinstalling the software fixed it. But the fact is, about ten days later, the watch seems to be working normally again (and I hope I don’t jinx it by saying this—phew).
Sorry for the long post. I hope this helps someone out.
