Suunto Race 3S General Discussion

May someone who knows about it explain the hardware differences between the new Race 3S and the Race2.

As far as I understand they use the same processor. Is there a difference in RAM, storage or “just” the new HR sensor? Or anyhting else as well?

I have been testing this model for some months now.
Can say that it is a perfect feature set in the small form factor.
High end materials, offline music, 5GHz Wifi added makes it the ideal successor for my pretty scratched Race S

The biggest hardware difference is the size!
Race 3s is the small form factor.
Plus it has a new and again improved OHR sensor.

Was more asking for “tech hardware” (Processor, RAM, Baro sensor, GPS etc.)

No. OHR is different hardware.
GNSS is from Sony, not sure about the exact chipset. It works like a charm!

My Wife uses the 9pp, I have the Race S.
For an upgrade I would choose the Race 3 s now that it’s out.

From the UI it is the same as in Race S and other adventure models.
The umber itself does not say so much, as Run 2 is running on version 2.x.x as well.

Route Planner is catching my interest !
For the rest nice upgrade ; I will likely go for it and give my SRs to my son

@Tieutieu the race planner is not a Race 3S only feature as far as I know, next firmware update will be very interesting also for Race 2 and Vertical 2 (and also Race and Race S, but they cannot always get all features)

My experience, except if you are allergic to rotating crown, and amoled, R3S is far better than S9pp. Reliable OHR, even for my case where none were working, and… Maps.
Not speaking about design, it is a matter of taste.

R2 and V2 will be update to support also offline music ?

@Mi_chael I believe that requires additional hardware that is not available in Race 2 and Vertical 2.
