any news about new firmware?
-
@elbee I am with you, totally frustrated with their repetitive issues
-
So far, it seems that regularly reboots (like in weekly or more) and occasional depletion of the battery mitigates my 2 biggest problems: battery drain of 15% per night and I couldn’t do a 7 hours hike when I started with 48% battery left and bluetooth connection lost to my heart rate sensor and stryd during workouts.
Suunto isn’t working on fixing those 2 problems and definitely not for my race s.
On the other hand, my previous (expensive!) garmin forerunner 965 I sold after about a year of use due to the many annoyances. My race s I still use for almost 2 years. Most of the time it’s fine.

@karmazynowycukiereczek
Exact same issues with regards battery drain.I did a test setting my watch on a table and starting a full GPS activity, after six hours it had lost 16% of the battery. The following day I put the watch in the same place for 6 hours just on standby mode with 24 hour HR tracking and the watch lost 8% of the battery.
Surely the watch shouldn’t be loosing as much battery just in standby mode!?
I had gone down the route of contacting suunto support, and after loads of emails they acknowledged there was an issue but would only offer me 10% off a new watch.
I’m still hoping that a fix is coming.

Hello, I’m following the drain battery since many days and that are the data that I collected :
I’m a little bit short in data for GPS Perfoamance + HR because I’m injured so I don’t do activities of more than 50 minutes
I don’t know if somebody has also data collection like that. (for information I have a Race Titanium) -

I have a little bit more data, clearly, on the night more the battery is low more the drain is high.
during the day, there is no change (I don’t have enought data between 0 and 20% during the day) -
Still waiting the new firmware.
I’m thinking about Suunto forgot us. Maybe it’s time to move to another brands…
-
@Alejandro-Pérez-Beneyto I am also checking every day

-
@Alejandro-Pérez-Beneyto before the end of the year Race should get an update, as far as I know
-
@Alejandro-Pérez-Beneyto is it so critical to get updates that you change brand if you don’t get them?
Why is people buying watches based on what they can be and not what they are? -
@Richard-Thygesen I also don’t understand this…
Plus you never know what changes an update will bring and if it actually banefits your individual use case -
@Richard-Thygesen in my personal case, I am not hoping for new features, only to receive fixes of the regressions introduced with the most recent firmwares (BT disconnections, map details missing at 500m and black grids)
-
@Richard-Thygesen so, your watches are bug free?
-
@Alejandro-Pérez-Beneyto is it so critical to get updates that you change brand if you don’t get them?
Why is people buying watches based on what they can be and not what they are?2 things:
These are watches with updatable firmwares. That’s what they are.
And I reported quite some bugs I really want a fix for. Or is it too much to ask that bugs can be solved?
-
@2b2bff yes, for my use case it actually seems to be.
But I only use it for running, cycling strength training and the occasional downhill skiing and hiking. -
@elbee I also like updates but I don’t expect them. I think there is a larger question in this and that is that the customers demand more and more functions that seem to introduce more and more bugs and Suunto is not the only brand with this problem . I think we will have to live with bugs as long as we demand more and more complicated functions.
-
@Richard-Thygesen there is always part of people that will change to different brand due to slightest inconvenience. Other part has fomo and are afraid to not get new features from other brands. A lot of users of sportswatches are just datanerds that wants new and shiny all the time. Another part of users just want theit bugs fixed, but bugs are not getting fixed since brands are cooking new functions instead, unless the bug is critical enough. A sports-watch sector is kind of becoming techbro’s sector with occasional usage for sports.
With every update I am a bit afraid that they gonna f-up something I use, so I am definitely not waiting for updates, unless it is smth like ZoneSense where it is just super interesting.

@aiv4r totally agree!

And I’m the first to react in the features request topics why feature requests might be not very well thought out. Consequences of adding extra complexity is one of the arguments.
I think the features request topics are more the place where you should make your point.
Why Suunto developers couldn’t release a firmware update for so long is a complete other story. Being a software developer myself, I know this isn’t a good sign. (Could be anything, incapable developers, out of control complexity of the software, lack of funding. All equally bad for getting bugs fixed)
-
@elbee I expect at least ability to set hr zones for external activities…
-
@sunter as far as I can see, this feature is still not ready
