I want to upgrade to the 9 but the apps are so bad. I want to see what is planned. Hopefully others want to know the future to!

@Jesson-Atherton What do you mean the apps are so bad??? What is it you do not like about the 9? Why do you want a 9?

@Jesson-Atherton good luck getting a satisfactorily reply to this… there have been heaps of discussion around this… personally I think there is minimal development going on behind the scenes… my suggestion is either spend more money on training peaks or like, or go with a different watch… (garmin has the best app, and not a lot of price diff between suunto 9 and a fenix 5x)

And how do you know this? Minimal development on what?

Runalyze is free and works well. Did you forget other 3rd party platforms? If the OP wants battery life the 5X is poor. Oh, and the screen isn’t so good either. We can debate all sorts of issues but your post is not answering the OPs question, which I asked clarification for.

@Brad_Olwin lets face it … … the rate at which new features are coming out is 0… (even you can’t fault with this!!!)
and Suunto keeps on going round in circles…
hence everyone is asking for a road-map to hold suunto up against…(patience is not infinite)

@giraffe73 exactly. Not disclosing the features to come to SA or even watches like spartan that are out for a year or two is not excusable as ‘company secrets’, imo. No one here asked for some new features that don’t exist in competitors, if that was the case I could agree with not disclosing. Especially given the current situation they should disclose what is coming to SA in the next year. (if they have a clue themselves).

@giraffe73 in the past 3 months we got the route planning, the import of gpx, the sports mode customization, the editable sharing pics, the open api enabling the connection to Strava/TP etc, the partial support of A3 (and other watches I’m sure I forget), the weekly/monthly stats, the daily summary and the steps/sleep cloud storage. Plus everything I forget.

I understand you may not like which features are delivered, but is it fair to say that the rate at which it is coming is 0?
I’m no developer, but I’ve already participated in several beta programs and would not agree with that statement.

@giraffe73 Why register on a forum and keep posting on here when you hate the products so much? Just get rid of that anger and go buy another brand’s watch.

I am certain that one reason Suunto is not disclosing is the very bad feedback they had with the Spartan. A roadmap was provided and the timing for delivery of features was delayed compared to the roadmap…the complaining was unreal. Suunto explained they did not want to deliver features until thoroughly tested and working with no bugs. It satisfied no one…@giraffe73 and others make statements that are false and it does not help those who are attempting to provide constructive feedback.

@Brad_Olwin hm, well I agree that it is idiotic to sell incomplete products or in a beta stage. Just to be fair, garmin and polar do the same.

The rate of feature improvement is certainly not zero, but it is seems slow (and that may be due to having to deal with old SportsTracker codebase that was initially designed for a different purpose). Many of the features you mentioned existed for much longer time (e.g. route planning), and some of these features don’t exist yet, at least not on Android. For example I don’t see any monthly summary. There is rolling 30 day summary per sport, but I think that is a pretty old feature and it isn’t exactly the monthly summary. Something as simple as finding a total for running distance and elevation still can’t be done.

Thats getting a bit personal … i suspect maybe you are the one with anger issues.

to all you guys lets face it… feature releases are coming out at snails pace (if not at 0 - all you guys have a problem with this statement…).

I bought a perfectly good product early last year, unfortunately these products are only as good as the software ecosystem around it.
What use is the product, if you cant analyze all the data it collects, and interact. (I paid for the whole ecosystem - not just the watch)

After a year of development, I would have expected something much more than what is the current state of the App / MC / Web Interface.

And trust me, if the app was only half as good, and Suunto would provide me with more than generic answers, I would never have joined this forum.

Besides, if you guys feel i am unfair, go back on this forum, and see how many people are requesting a road-map (it is a hot topic) … and may be work on getting a satisfactory reply for this… instead of going round in circles.

Also may be try and understand why people are asking for a road map in the first place?

Also no one is disputing that they roll out features with out throughly testing, but at-least communicate what features are going to be released along the way, (i.e. road map), so we know we are not stuck with whats current – (i.e. putting themselves (suunto) in the customers shoes)

@sartoric no I am quite happy with MC, actually if they got rid of the App, and concentrated on MC, including enabling the apps feature for spartans, that would be perfect (- for me).

Workout tracking is not the only thing I am after (although its the biggest buy).
Prior to this I was on fitbit, and I had developed some pretty good habits around sleep patterns, other habits by monitoring my HR, etc … I don’t know how I am tracking on those anymore
