Suunto 5

@zhang965 Suunto has - so far - no license for the S9 for any Firstbeat feature acquired. That’s it!

@Brad_Olwin Thanks for the reply, sorry if you had to repeat yourself.
I don’t understand the argument of not wanting the option of having features on the watch, if you’re not interested then you can ignore it or disable it.
Sleep tracking and all HR tracking is there with the option to disable.It is not that simple, there are extra screens on the S5 not on the S9, one is Resources and another VO2 max. I don’t mind the data somewhere but I do not want the extra screens. I have used the features on the S5 and as I stated before, for trail running the VO2 max is not helpful. For road running is good. The fitness features are great for individuals that want plans to improve or maintain fitness and do not train for competitions.

No compass… really? whoever buys it for navigation functions will probably be disappointed. Is it a component that really affects so much the price? for navigation the compass really makes the difference while you are on the road
-
It’s true, but it’s the cheapest suunto.
I would not be wrong but is a lack that has effects only under 3km / h, speed above which the direction is indicated by the gps point (it is also so for sss, ssu and 9) -
@Saketo-Nemo It’s been days since I wondered why the direction of my SSS didn’t update in real time while I’m hiking, but only when I’m stationary (This didn’t happen with Ambit 3). Without wanting to, you probably explained the reason to me, thanks. Is this information contained in the manual? I guess I can’t change this settings… Sad…
-
Now that S5 was official launched which is fw status? 2.*.**?
-
Let’s see some goodies
-
@Luís-Pinto 2.6.54, last official update that I can see on SSS
-
Anyone bought it today? Any thoughts regarding build quality and new features?
-
I have read in dcrainmaker’s pre-review that 24/7 HR tracking is significant load for battery - approx. 3 % per hour. Has anyone else noticed such behaviour? Is this normal or temporary problem due to beta software and will be fixed later with updates?
-
@dulko79 from what I know is “expected” behavior which also happens on other models too. Continuous heart rate readings requires a lot of battery power, as does sleep monitoring. Maybe there will be more reliable information soon
-
@dulko79 I have a SST and I think that he said the same. However I can confirm that I have never experienced such battery consumption.
-
Nope for sure not 3%
-
@dulko79
Ray says that ? Mmmm…very strange ! -
@Saketo-Nemo was that a serious or sarcastic question?
-
@dulko79 second one
-
-
-
Agreed not 3 %

I bought my girlfriend a s5 and after a fews runs i am a bit confused because the ascent recorded by the watch is about 50% of the real ascent. I use the ssu. I know s5 has no baro but at least it should record the GPS ascent which is about the same i her from the ssu. Is this a known issue?
