I started to use Suunto App yesterday, so not so much experience yet but something.

Suunto app seems to be very stable, no crashing at all. Movescount crasher more often than this. Notifications works well but missing notification control means that I’m getting all possible notification to my Spartan all the time, so this is a little bit annoying. Exercise sync works perfectly. Right after exercise is over it sync it automatically to app. Big improvement compared to Movescount.

But, Suunto app is basically Sports Tracker app with just sync and notification functionlity. Look and feel is totally same. Nothing wrong with that but I was expecting that daily activity and sleep monitoring information would be added here. Of course this is beta and more functionalities are coming.

        Here is my opinion, finally.

What I most like on the app:

        • Synchronization with the watch: fast and reliable.
        • Look and feel: in general looks good and its clear.
        • Amount of information: lot of information and metrics, comparison with previous attemps on the same route, etc.
        • Being able to see on the map the metrics associated (how fast I was at certain point and so on).

What I miss/dont like that much, most important first (Android version):

        • Strava Sync.
        • No intervals information.
        • Not being able to select which kind of notifications I want to have on the watch.
        • The charts start at point 0 what makes them irrelevant (I live on a place at 450m) as you see an almost flat line.
        • No info about sleeping.
        • Default sharing is “private” and this cannot be changed.
        • The chart about the pace, in my opinion, should be with the Y-axis changed, the fastest the higher. But thats personal.
        • No live tracking.
        • The summary tab on the diary section could have a cleaner design.

        Hope it helps!

I have logged about 6 workouts with the app synced to the watch thus far. My activities have been running, biking, Xfit, and skateboarding. I am pleased with how it works. I just wished the app would not run constantly in my phone background - drains the battery fairly quickly.

I have a question, off topic, regarding the watch capabilities. I often do Xfit workouts that incorporate running. Is it possible to track a workout, where the running (distance/speed/HR/Cal) is tracked only during the running portion? And the calisthenic/stationary part of the work out is tracked for HR/Cal burned? I would like to see what my speed/ distance is without the stationary part of the exercise affecting the stats.

                @jp386 Hi,

The app does not run on the background but the BLE service. Are you sure it costs battery? Can you post your battery stats here ?

I see a notification in a phone that is telling me the app is constantly on:
                  https://photos.app.goo.gl/y7LNmbgiRZ2L3hcI2

                  But, it appears it is not draining battery, per the stats…I notice the battery drains faster since app was installed;

Used the app for a few days now, I think it’s better than movescount in that you can see your steps, calories, sleep on the app which you couldnt on MC. syncing is quick and havent experienced any bugs yet.
what I want (which I’m many people have suggested) is to see more detail on everything. I want to see more analysis on steps, calories, hr, sleep from the daily activity aspect including a graph for a day, week and month.
cant see laps from a workout on the app. I also did a treadmill run and I cant see my speed in the app even though it was recorded from the treadmill.
I would like to see more customization as well, such as edit the goal on the home screen, steps, calories, number of workouts, workout hrs (as it is now). a dark version of the app would be nice.
Planning moves would be good as well as pre-setting intervals, i.e. warmup 5 min, 2 min high, 1 min low x6, cool down 5 min. A more advanced workout/interval creator would be good to but not a deal breaker.
Some of this I’d be happy to see on a web interface but if its on the app it needs to be on the web too. I might have some more suggestions I use it more.
                      Thanks

I really like the comparison between two activities. Still, I feel that the search lacks functionality. It should be possible to search something like “285 W” regardless of where this string occurs in the description. Also wildcards or regular expressions would be great! At the movement this does not seem to work.

First impression was good, but when I got into the detail I was/am disappointed.

About me: I’m 78 years old, had bypass, had a severe stroke, and I work out regularly to recover my mobility etc. - without blowing my dodgy(ish) heart. Although I do care about tracking my walks, these are usually when on holiday in Spain or Finland. I am interested in my past moves - because I can see progress (or lack of it).

This new app seems to be focused on the young. I am pleased for them. really. If only these things were available for me in the 1960’s . . .

But this app and all it does is absolutely NOT for me. That’s OK. I just delete it from my phone and return gratefully to the movescount were I can see my 400+ moves already made.

You need to know - there are very many who workout strongly and regularly but who never leave the gym. This new app pretty much ignores them.

                          Specifically:
The graph showing heart rate is not customised to my own heart settings. (max 141; rest 60)

And laps are good - to isolate the time/effort for each machine /activity in the gym.

After using some days, using in my iPhone, my first opinions:

                                Good points:

                                1. Design: beauty, clean and modern
                                2. Speed of the app
                                3. Sync works well without problems
                                4. Integration with Apple Health
                                5. Analysis screen
                                6. Detailed information of the workouts

                                What I miss more:

                                1. Automatically sync with watch when opening the app
                                2. Import routes
                                3. Export routes from the watch

                                Suggestions for the future:

                                1. Full Watch Settings on the app, specially HR zones, sports customization and multiple sports features (for this last option I understand it depends on spartan firmware update)
                                2. Add planification of future moves
                                3. Add possibility to generate a Suunto Movie or at least connect with Relive service

A long list of missing but the feelings are really good for a beta app that’s only in 0.4 version.

                                Good job

@slashas it’s not working with sleep and steps, but the rest, as a start, is working. I understand they will fix in the future, bu for now I disable this feature in Health App, because in some scenarios seems even the HR data is not transfered to Apple Health.

I will use Rungap until the next version

First time I edited one of my moves with app and I have to say It’s straightforward and easy to do.
And furthermore I edited it via my phone on the Android app and the changes were immediately updated on the IOS app (Ipad) a couple of seconds later.
                                      Good job Suunto developers!

Have a few suggestions about improvements to the app.

                                        • Possible to navigate in the graph (like on the web-site) for HR, speed ect. so it will be easier to check the data more accurate. Maybe possible to tilt the phone for bigger scale while navigate. and put graphs over each other like the web-site. Would make comparing terrain and HR easier for example.

                                        • Let more information sync to the app from the clock. Here I mean step-count, calories, sleep and HR. Would be easier to keep track of everything if it got saved to each day in the app/web. Also easier to check and compare restingHR for example. Now it just lay one week in the clock and will be gone.

                                        • More information in the workout-summary. Would love to see max/min speed, HR ect. Now it just show average for all. And its not that easy to check this in the graph as I mention over here.

                                        • Also have suggestion to the clock. Its about the smart notifications. Here i would love to find massages ect on the clock when its not check on the phone. Now they just show a few sec on the clock and then disappear. If I’m in a middel of a set and get a text, its not that easy to check it. Would be great to check the massages on the clock after the set without need to find the phone.

Hi! Just installed the Suunto app and already have smth to say)
The overall look and feel is really much, much better than in the Movescount app. Clean and clear. Great job, thank you, guys!
For me as for a beginner swimmer it’s extremely important to know if I was better this time than the previous) So I’d like to see all the info 'bout stoke rate and intervals and so on directly in the app. The ‘Laps’ tab on the Movescount site is the most important for me right now. For example, each time I swim 200 meters as fast as I can and then compare the interval duration with the previous result.
It would also be great if you add Russian language)
                                          Thank you again!
