      My wishlist would include:

      • A dedicated waypoint navigation screen like in Ambit3 with waypoint name, bearing, distance on route, ETE, etc

      • Dedicated button for backlight (e.g. ability to customize the lower button that I almost never use for laps)

      • Navigation zoom available in locked mode

      • Zoom (changing scale) for custom graphs while in exercise

      • Ability to activate/deactivate the breadcrumbs screen - don’t want to have to scroll through it during 90% of my activities.

      • Adjustable watch face timeout in non-activity mode (e.g. I want to be able to observe altitude or HR outside of exercise without the watch switching back to watchface after one minute).

      • Easily accessible recovery time graph on watch (like in Ambit3, not buried too deep in the menu).

      • Vo2max estimate on watch.

      • Allow more than 3 screens in custom sport mode.

Everything that I mentioned before still applies, except Vo2Max.

I would also very like something like Garmin’s ClimbPro.

@TELE-HO yes, i mean quick turn on Bluetooth instead of stepping through the menu.

there are now 2 active firmware wishlists for S9B… I did not expect this one to be active, that’s why I’ve created a new list that kind of there to list what’s not there yet… like a summary… as it says

@Durri I vote also for SSSWHR Baro as watch faces are the same. Some kind of a light theme for watch face would be nice. It will draw more battery, but I see better without glasses on positive watch face as contrast is better for me.White color sends more light to eyes so pupils contract and then you see better 🙂

@Bulkan Second that. It was key in my Ambit 3 days. And super helpful in new cities. Please Suunto.

Yes, because that literally is a screenshot of Garmin ClimbPro. But I’d like to have something similar on Suunto 9.

However I think the main issue is that there is no good way to switch between alternative displays without having to scroll through all of them. On Ambit there is View button for that, but on Suunto 9 there are no available buttons - out only 3 buttons two buttons are always reserved for rarely needed actions.

@TELE-HO Because Garmin is a smartwatch. And Suunto 9 is less “smart watch” than Ambit. It is trying its best to be a fitness tracker though.

I remember that I looked into the programming of garmin apps and noticed that it was waaaay to difficult for me… but something like this could be added for S-line watches in my opinion…

now since I’m trying to reach the miraculous 0.25%/h battery consumption and therefore have switched off everything incl BT by activating flight mode I absolutely understand your sync button request.
I don’t use an active BT connection at all and rather “waste” battery capacity for 24/7 HR than frequent sync triggered by aproaching watch to phone… I use sync once before an activity for the agps update and once after an activity for uploading.

when I recall the middle-age when I owned a Fenix 3, I remember that I pressed a button to sync thru wifi at home… (the BT device in the watch was somehow damaged and BT to phone took like half a night to sync)

while I’m thinking about a sync button it would be nice to have a shortcut button that opens up a customizable shortcut list.
one needs quick access to dnd, watch faces and light settings… another one prefers to toggle touch activation, alarm clock and flightmode…

@Durri deserves credit for suggesting that: I merely paraphrased and seconded. But good to know you’ve seen the (10% back-)light on occasionally maximising battery potential. Good luck with the 0.25%/h goal; is that an officially specified capability?

As for the shortcuts, customisable “master” modes would be nice: each including a set of configurable button/touch assignments, etc.

Sounds slightly over optimistic. Suunto states that the 9 can get to 14 days in time mode (so I guess without HR and sleep tracking, and not connected to SA all the time), and 0.25/hr means over 16 days (almost 17).
A reasonable number would be close to 0.3/hr.

                                      I quote @silentvoyager observation

“S9B consumed 13% of battery in 44 hours, including 35 minutes of GPS activity without HR and 1 hour of gym activity with chest HR while syncing only to MC. That is about 0.23-0.25%/hour or 5.5-6% per day.”

From my experience Suunto promised the batterylife for A3PS to be 20h with best GPS and HR but overachieved as I tested once with my older used A3P black. Hence there are expectations 🙂

What worries me a bit is that I don’t use notification whatsoever and no sleeptracking at all and I know for sure that my watch does sync only few times a day. And I don’t even get close to 14 days. When I disable BT the numbers don’t change much…
I would like to learn what uses battery and how much. I will do some tests regarding this. I will not go crazy about that and will not discuss 3 decimals… but some learnings would be nice, just to know ☺

What’s wrong with smart watch? Suuunto 9 and Spartan line could easily be smart watches. This can only raise up functionalities of the watch and increase selling. I personally wear my spartan baro all day, it tracks my steps and so on while I’m not exercising. Actually I exercise only few hours per week and other 99% I wear watch as a smartwatch? So I don’t see any contradiction between being smart watch and fitness watch. Actually suunto 9 and spartan lines are big enough to be smart watches too…

A true smartwatch is a watch that can run an arbitrary application that you can load on it. Apple iWatch is a smartwatch. Garmins are to some degree. Modern Suuntos are not, although they might become with SuuntoPlus. Currently they are just fitness watches - their functionality, with exception of notifications, is limited to a very small set of fitness tracking functions.

What is incomprehensible to me is why I have must to turn off my watch from economy mode when I want to use BT, while turning off flight mode . Wouldn’t it just be enough to turn off flight mode? Why so complicated?

I use my watch in economy mode and flight mode on. I work out three times a week and still have an incredible amount of clicks to turn on / off features.
