Syncing problems Ambit3 with iPhone11
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos It also does not allow me to pair the watch from the app. It doesn’t recognize my watch when I ask to pair the watch so I have to force the pair through the watch settings.
-
I also have this problem and have an open ticket with support but all has gone quiet despite their claims that it would be resolved. As such this is my latest reply to them as I am really getting very fed up with this.
Hi Xxxxx (name removed for privacy reasons)
Is there any update for this? I have had two activities randomly sync with the incomplete route but where the complete route is then sent to Strava. Seems from the Suunto forum this is a common problem for iOS users and I have to be honest that it feels like Suunto are taking Ambit3 users for granted and that we will simply upgrade to new watches. As my wife also has the same watch if we have to upgrade it will not be to another Suunto out of principle. Sad really as before this I would not have considered buying anything other than Suunto but now this has completely turned me away.
Please advise what the strategy is as it is Xmas next week and I need to know what brands to buy/avoid.

@JohanT what if you clear the watch memory and do a new one?
Perhaps it get’s stuck to some old “compressed one”?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I’ve actually done this multiple times as well. It’s quite obvious that there is a communication issue between the watch and the app, and Suunto can’t fix it (in my opinion), and we are just being strong along. Once I need to upgrade to a new watch I am going to have to consider other alternate brands.

@JohanT
what about force fw update… did you try this? -
I’m facing the same issue since two months now. What a shame it couldn’t be fixed nor taken seriously by suunto !
-
@AmineB
this is an answer from Suunto support couple of months back.
If possible try to save your activities thru Moveslink2 and then perform the force firmware update.
My understanding is that in case anything went corrupt in the system it is corrected by forcing the latest firmware onto the watch.
BUT the content of your activities will be removed!
Maybe it helps to get your connection from A3PS to SA working properly again.
Bear in mind that A3PS is sensitive for already once connected mobile apps. You must re-pair or un-pair from the watch menu in order to get a connection to SA.Force firmware update for Windows
- Connect the watch to the computer.
- Right click on the Moveslink2 icon (M) on the system tray and choose “Force Firmware Update”.

@TELE-HO I’ve tried but still don’t work
-
@JohanT my watch is 4-5 years, with the iPhone X everything works, but with the iPhone 11pro, it didn’t work
-
@mg-xpower same here. I’d say that is a clue.
-
@JohanT has anyone checked if the iPhone 11 is compatible with the old Bluetooth of the Ambit 3?
-
Hey, Switched from iPhone 8 to iPhone XS and ambit 3 peak is not syncing.
It’s annoying, once you solved one problem, an different issue is raising…
I already tried a lot…more than a hour of testing and syncing, but it’s still not possible.
-
Same issue here. iPhone 11 Pro and ambit 3 peak sapphire. Tried pairing/unpairing numerous times without success. I did a forced firmware update that cleared the logbook. After doing this (and having zero activity) it actually synced. But then I did a test 30 minute activity and it won’t sync again. It’s definitely a bug in the transfer of the logbook data since it synced fine without any activities. Really disappointing that this has been occurring for months now with no solution for Suunto. They are probably hoping we will just buy new watches. But after all this, the new watch certainly wont be a suunto.

@isazi I have no idea and not tech savvy enough to know or figure out if the technology is obsolete. I just wouldn’t mind knowing if it worked or not. Getting no answers from Suunto is just frustrating. They can just let me know if it doesn’t work so I can move on.
-
@UUtfk yes the Garmin Fenix 6 is looking very appealing right now.

@isazi I agree. I don’t think its necessarily a hardware issue as I was able to get it to sync with no activities (unless the Bluetooth can only handle a minuscule amount of data transfer, causing it to crash when syncing an activity). I just wish they would have left Movescount alone and let us Ambit users continue using it. That system seemed to work perfectly. I got my phone after they pulled movescount from the app store so I can’t install it. Anyone still have it installed on an iphone 11 pro? If so, can you sync activities on it?
-
Have lot of syncing issues with Ambit 3 Peak and Iphone XS with latest IOS. Made a switch to Suunto app before xmas break and been doing outdoor activities for 12 days. Using the app is really frustrating.
- Connectivity from Ambit 3 to the app is highly irregular, getting really frustrated doing the pairing unpairing etc…
- Syncing happens sometimes if I am lucky… If the move is longer than about 2 hours (for example
a day of downhill skiing) syncing typically fails and moves are stacking up on my Ambit.
Things were sort of working atleast with Movescount App, so there is evidence is that everything can be made to work.

Been having similar issues, there is a longer thread about… Atleast I have not figured out / found out any solutions.
-
@Deirdre-Hewitson im having this exact same issue…gone from iphone7 to iphone11, and not able to sync any moves with the suunto app.
Been on the phone with suunto support this morning, explained id tried the usual un pair and pair etc…just told me that the have moved my issue to a “level 2” and i should wait for an email
