I have had the Suunto 5 unit for just over one month now. The watch has crashed 3 times during that time. I can sense it will crash by the time it takes to save an exercise. When it takes over 10 minutes, then I know the watch is about to crash. THen its a hard reset and all the data and connectivity has been lost. It is not a huge hassle but surely for a new watch, it should not crash so ofen ? My old Ambit never crashed in the 5+ years I used it !

Has anyone ele encountered the same problem with the Suunto 5 unit ?

Did it always crash when saving ?

Some people had similar issue (just search for “watch crash”) but maybe in different situations and in some cases it was related to the watch connected to both app while using it.

Do you have set to on, the feeling option?
If no, try to put it on before any bigger investigation. This never ending saving may be solved with feeling on.

@Cornell-Tsiang This should not be happening and I have never had mine do this. I assume firmware is up to date?

@Brad_Olwin yeah, this isn’t normal. I’ve had my S5 hang once while trying to save POI and soft reset was enough to keep it going. Never had any problems since.

I may not recall correctly but I thought this issue was fixed in a firmware update.

I spoke with the Suunto support line. According to their records, the issue is the fact that I use a 3rd party infrared HR monitor (Polar OH1). The remedy is, apparently, in line with Mff73’s recommendation to enable the feelings option. I will try that over the next few weeks and see if it works. Suunto has kept the ticket open and I will report back to them after 2-3 weeks. I did try it this morning with the feeling option enabled and no problem. However, as the crashes happen intermittently, I need a few weeks to make sure.

@Cornell-Tsiang I had the exact same issue with my OH1 and S5 a few months ago and enabling the feeling option sorted it out.
