Re: S9 Baro - very bad steps counting

This morning when I woke just after 6 as usual on a workday & it had 160 steps when I got up. I made 10 steps and remembered to look at the watch. Miband for example had 23 steps.
Sleeping tracking is set to off, but my bed time setting remained the same, that watch doesn’t take into consideration at all - sleep time set from 22:00 - 9:00. I guess dogs sleep too.😂

No suunto3 has a context engine that made for steps counter,

So it’s very different than s9

Steps is a unity for suunto. Sit down, shake your hands and let see your counter increase.
This is not made to count the number of your steps but your daily movement.

@ink357 Yeah, I get it, but still…this morning got up an hour ago, right now 803 Suunto vs 115 miband. That’s just absurd… considering price difference. BTW…wasn’t rubbing anything, just to clear that out of the way:) OK if it is in 10-15% difference just for orientation, but this is waaaay off.

@Cuba1hr please read on Suunto web page…

Some wrist movements may be interpreted as steps even if you are not walking. It is important to remember that the step count is an indicator of your overall activity. Any movement contributes to your activity.

There may be some variation in results from different manufacturers or devices that use different methods to count your steps.
According to our testing, the step counter in your watch is a relatively reliable estimation of actual steps taken, but it remains an estimation and should not be considered a counter of literally every step.

Well I have read it, also - “This setting is currently available for Suunto 3 and Suunto 5.”🙂
Same goes for the other band, of course any movement contributes, but it is just too sensitive.

I am just saying Sunnto should tweak that part better, in the upcoming FWs, hopefully.
