I want to buy my wife an open water swimming watch and the Suunto 3 looks ideal. However she mainly does longer distances sea swimming and kayaking and i cannot find any information about whether it is able to cope with sea water immersion for long periods. Has anyone any information about this?

    nly does

It is water resistant up to 30m so swimming souldn’t be a problem… I use my Suunto 9 in salt water and it hasn’t caused any problems so far. I do clean it in fresh water when I come home.

You are aware it doesn’t have GPS at all, but uses the location data provided by mobile phone right?

@Prenj you are right. That is the first time I realised that. Never knew Suunto built a watch with “GPS” that only works through Suunto App 😱
