As my A3P is not able, to connect to my IPhone XS Bluetooth (14.01) after several pairing tries, I don‘t know what to do anymore!

Suunto.App is installed but worthless. MC luckily still works on an old IPad 2017 and pairing is okay but what will be the solution?! I’am bit frustrated because my Ambit is perfect for me but software is the opposite of good.

Does anybody have same problem here? My request to Suunto.app or alternative is only a mobile sync to an application which talks with Strava and tracks my swim, run and bike sessions…thx for comments and ideas!

@herchu I have nearly 4400 moves and I did not lose any data in the transfer, it did take a rather long time though.

@lohtse as I said previously, I encourage you to try using new app first. That’s better than make conclusions “based on comments on the forum” (BTW which comments show the date is messed up or not present half the time?)

@pavel-samokha said in Ambit 3 Peak : Keep Movescount or change for SUUNTO app ?:

@lohtse Sometimes being different than what you are used to doesn’t mean useless or worse. Basically most of the functions you’re used to in MC still available to you. You can create routes and sync them, you can sync your moves to the app and analyze.

You don’t need to try a product to say it’s crap for you when a) you don’t want to use a phone to create routes, and b) they have removed significant functionality from the Ambits, and fewer but absolutely key functions from the Spartan. Ultimately all the little fanboys on here will say Suunto are wonderful even if what they offer is a turd rolled in glitter. Those of us who have lost the brand loyalty will be heavily critical when we feel we have been ripped off by an underhand company that has decided those of us who use these watches for navigation rather than fitness tracking are expendable as customers.

From what I’ve tried out in the App it’s probably a better ‘app’ in terms of feel and function than Movescount, but that’s forgetting that the true power of Movescount is the web function with all the features that it offers; route creation on a desktop, POI creation, graphs/maps of rides/runs etc without needing to pay further to get access to these same features in something like Strava Premium. For me the app sucks because it’s the only way I can communicate with my watch or update it etc and they’ve removed the features I valued/need. It could be the best designed app in the world and I will still give it a 1* review because it fails to meet my requirements, requirements that were met absolutely fine by the old setup. And there’s the problem; rather than accepting that these are things a number of customers want, they make it worse for themselves by telling you that most customers don’t want these things, and that you’re weird for daring to want what you purchased. It’s a joke, and the lack of empathy towards those of us who will in a week have paperweights where once we had useful devices is frustrating. Suunto just seem to do a shrug of the shoulders and then go back to scratching their arse or whatever else they do. Ultimately this is not directed at @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos because he has, as I’ve said before, generally been the most helpful (only helpful) person I’ve spoken to from Suunto.

My A3P still doesn‘t connect to BT on an IPhone XS. Is there anybody out there interested and polite enough to answer me and give me an idea or a solution at Suunto support?

For me (and other) my Suunto watch is useless if I/they don‘t get support or help here and I will choose another brand/watch after deadline for MC. Sad but true, but I still want to track my sessions.

it is well aware at Suunto’s side

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos said in Suunto App has never worked for me...PLEASE KEEP MOVESCOUNT!!:

I am not here to say an excuse and I do work for Suunto and I do share the super irritating thing that iOS sync with ambit just purely sucks.

I am everyday giving pressure for this to be fixed

There are some many threads here about the iOS sync not working.

I don’t want to say stuff like hold on etc nor excuses. Nor am I working for this forum. But I do know the issue is actually escalated. Perhaps I should not have posted this but well.

@Mff73 I had a A3P and I own now a SSU. Maybe I go over to the S9 baro. I am not satisfied either with the desicion to shut down MC web. But that´s life, life doesn`t stagnate, the world is going onwards, something that you have to accept. And its good the the world goes onwards ;). Man doesn´t like changes, that´s normal. But why not giving it a chance…?

@Mff73 sounds frustrated…thanks a lot for feedback! I know and see that Dimitris is very helpful. Luckily my old Ipad is actually my workaround but I hope it will also with Suunto app
                      …
It is hard to see how bad are the response time is at Suunto Support…in my opinion they wait till Ambit is EOL „end of live“, to stop Support. By the way I also work in Support for a Software company but we cannot allow that kind of non-reaction and write our limitations (BLE/hardware) in release description to avoid such trouble. #transparency
                      …
I hope Suunto wakes up before it is too late.

You have hit the nail on the head with a huge sledge hammer… All the points I have been making and many more. yet we are being told effectively without using the words that the Suunto app is perfect and we will not loose functionality even though we all know this is completely untrue.

We are loosing functionality, we will have to pay to see the FULL data our watches can collect by using a third party service (unless you know about quantified-self.io). We will be loosing mini app functionality and creation when Movescounts is closed and I am unsure if we can upload new mini apps or sync the data they collect after October as it is. When Movescount is closed down will not be able to change the settings without having to go through the the watch it’s self not that big an issue but is far easier and convenient in movescount, Creating a route using the Suunto app is terrible in my opinion simply because of screen size, constantly having to zoom in and out etc just to get the route something like what I want, this is where Movescount web was great. Yet we are going to be left with just Suunto app, yes I know we can use third part apps( I am sick of hearing) this and I often do(Memory map,Basecamp)… But that is NOT the point… Movescount was a one stop web/ app and that’s what made it good… Now we are going to be left with a huge mess of apps we have to use to do what one could do… AND THAT’S THE POINT!

Movescount works and works almost perfectly for mosts of us and fits are needs… Suunto App DOES NOT COME CLOSE to meeting the needs and functionality of movescount… yet we are being constantly ignored… If the new generation of suunto users could see what we used too get(as standard) they would probably be very disappointed, but then Suunto are probably counting on the fact they don’t actually know this.

I keep hearing and seeing comments that suunto are listening to theirs users on this forum yet to me at least that is not the case. All I feel is a knife in the back!

Suunto are slowly becoming a third rate company all because of the way they treat LOYAL users, And I did consider myself as a loyal user as I have used their products for 32 years!! Now I am looking elsewhere…

                          Hi lohtse,

I totally agree with you on these 2 points and I can confirm that Suunto apps (mini apps) logs are not synced with Suunto app as they used to be with movescount web, and the data is not displayed in the graph of the move either. So we lose data by using Suunto app and it’s a pity. I use custom apps for interval training mainly as my watch (Traverse) doesn’t have this functionnality.
                          See my post : https://forum.suunto.com/topic/4186/suunto-apps-http-www-movescount-com-apps-logged-data-on-move-graph-in-suunto-app-android?_=1602320636760

Regarding point #2, it is a nonesense to create hiking route on a 5 inches screen! I can’t imagine to seriously prepare a trek itinerary on a mobile phone.

I’m still hoping Suunto will consider feedback from “old” ambit/traverse family owners…

@sebchastang No one is forcing you to create routes on the phone. You can create them in MC or any web-based app and import them into the Suunto App. I use Gaia as I need slope angle information for ski touring. IMHO, this solution is much better as I always had issues with MC routes, not stable on a Mac.

You can create them on the sports-tracker web site. That’s a handy feature even though the whole ST website is really rudimentary and nothing more than a simple list of moves.

However, that need to depend on third party tools is far from ideal and this has been exposed by a large part of the user base.

It’s like if you own a car and when you want to get your groceries you are suddenly forced to have to drive to the bus station, take the bus to the shop, do your shopping, take the bus back again, load the car and drive home from the bus station… quite illogical, ain’t it? Especially if this is not how things have been in the past. But that’s identical to how I see the result of the SApp transition as compared to the MC ecosystem (where you could freely drive your car to the groceries and drive back home…).

This is even more sad when you realise that Suunto does have the means (source code, website components,…) needed to put that solution in place.

The point is that though movescount wasn’t perfect you had it all in one interface… now you have NO CHOICE but to use several apps and websites because of the direction Suunto has taken.

I could do almost everything with movescount. But would for serious routes always use Memory map or basecamp software…

@Brad_Olwin You are right, but as elevation is no more available in MC, I cannot use it anymore for route planning. Even if I create a new route in a third party app or website, when I import a GPX in movescount, ascent and descent are not displayed. It is only available once I transferred the route into my watch.
As lohtse wrote, it is not comfortable to use third party apps and MC handled route creation perfectly until now.

Regarding point #2, it is a nonesense to create hiking route on a 5 inches screen! I can’t imagine to seriously prepare a trek itinerary on a mobile phone.

I’m still hoping Suunto will consider feedback from “old” ambit/traverse family owners…

I use mini apps so much to provide data that is very useful for me and clients… So the fact most if not all this data is missing with the suunto app is quite frankly disgusting. One of the reasons this watch possible did so well was because of ALL the data you could collect with the addition of mini apps… Just shows how little suunto value the platform they created, or they would have made sure they had provisions for this.

Ambit 3 Peak with HRM, Movescount on Samsung S6 Active,Android 7.1.2…Suunto app installed for test only…

I have been a Suunto owner for many years, since the M1 came out. I’m sad to say that the B9 will be my last Suunto watch. My next will be a Polar because the Polar Flow is an excellent web interface.

@sebchastang said in Ambit 3 Peak : Keep Movescount or change for SUUNTO app ?:

@Brad_Olwin You are right, but as elevation is no more available in MC, I cannot use it anymore for route planning. Even if I create a new route in a third party app or website, when I import a GPX in movescount, ascent and descent are not displayed. It is only available once I transferred the route into my watch.
As lohtse wrote, it is not comfortable to use third party apps and MC handled route creation perfectly until now.

What is the issue with 3rd party websites? They work well and allow easy importing. Agreed that MC elevation data needs fixing.

Having used Suunto products for 22 years all I can say is that the new app does compare to the Movescount Web App with the level of detail. Suunto need to produce a web app or I can see the transition to a Garmin Fenix coming. Been brand loyal for most of my life.

@lohtse I must have missed it. Fairly confident the last communication stated that Movescount would remain for watch settings updates and route creation/syncing for Ambit series watches.

                                            You read something I haven’t?
