S9B - problem with battery modes
-
Hi,
I have a problem with battery modes.
The Performance (1s interval) works fine. But when I set Endurance (60s interval) or Ultra (120s interval), it doesn’t work well.
The watch still switches between Performance and Endurance (or Performance and Ultra).
Here is a link to the activity where the Endurance mode was set.
https://www.suunto.com/cs-cz/move/pavlas2/5f78525121ff1063d8efdd37I tried Soft reset and Factory reset. But the problem is the same.
I have the latest firmware version
Does anyone have a similar experience? -
What is the problem? To me it looks ok
-
Until 0:21:44 is active Performance mode. Endurance mode is active from 0:21:44. But only until 0:27:13. Then Performance mode is active again. And again, from 0:30:21, is Endurance mode until the finish.

@Pavlas S9 automatically switches to 1s GPS fix when you switch to the navigation screen. Isn’t this the case?
-
As @inkognito said.
A little bit more detail:
- When you start an activity for the first 1-12minutes until when the altitude is calibrated the perfomance mode is used.
- When you switch to the navigation screen then performance is used.

@inkognito
No, I didn’t use navigation.
Well, maybe the altitude was calibrated. But why did the Performance mode reactivate after another 6 minutes?
I have this problem whenever I want to use Endurance or Ultra. -
@Pavlas did you go to the breadcrumbs screen. ?
-
@Pavlas This is an extremely short time frame for either Endurance or Ultra modes, as @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos stated, it may take time for the FusedAlti to activate. I typically don’t use Endurance for anything less than 20h and Ultra for anything around 48h long.
-
@Brad_Olwin This was just a test. In fact, I usually only use Performance mode. I just want to know if there’s a mistake in the watch.
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Do you mean a navigation screen without navigation? Yeah, I switch to it sometimes, but maybe for only 1-2 seconds. (to return to the first screen). Can it have an effect? -
@Pavlas yeah that turns the GPS to best in order to show you your current location in relation to your track.
Remember, Ultra + Endurance modes turn on the GPS every 1minute or 5 minutes (ULTRA).
So when you go to that screen it will enable the GPS, then when you leave, turn it off after a few and back on again.
If you want to avoid that while toggling screens , you can turn “nagivation off” from breadcrumbs, and that should not happen then.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Okay, I’ll try it! Thanks a lot!
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Hi, I tried it and it works!
BTW Suunto support wanted me to send the watch for service. In the end, it was my fault.
Thank you! -

Thank you!I tested my battery the last couple of weekends in Endurance mode for 3.5h to 6h runs. GPS only + smartsensor +Route loaded no SuuntoPlus my battery estimate on the watch was 50h and on QS was 45h. So, according to my tests all is working as expected.

@Brad_Olwin just a couple of 3.5 to 6 hour runs, no big deal

… sprint training …
-
@stromdiddily @johann-fuehrer Yes, my average weekend runs in the winter are 4-7h, shorter than my weekend training in the summer:). Once SkiMo gets going full swing here, I’ll have longer days…
