Hello I’m a mountaineer from Annecy in the alps (both summer and winter)
I have a SUUNTO 9 BARO which is awesome already but on which I still would like to propose you few improvement that I considere easy wins (I’m also an IT guy btw :-))
Today :
In personalize view around mountain activites, it will be fantastic if automatically when there is no POI a combined COMPASS+ALTITUDE screen is added … a little bit as you add automatically the pace clock on swimming activity.Having that will be a great advantage for mountain dwellers as it will allow them very easily to see at the same time the direction and the altitude and for example if the fog is coming and they can follow an altitude curve that they can still see on their paper cartography (this is a technic old of decades and used by military alpin’s troops when there was no GPS)
I will propose something similar in another post which talk about the default screen and use of middle button or swipe on the right

@pierre-yves-colle This is absolutely a great idea and something that should be added soon in the next firmware update.
All of us will love these new functions and optional screens!

Imagine that I made an heart attack reading your sarcasm … and the police decide for an investigation … looking to my SUUNTO they may discover that my heart attack was recorder by my lovely 9 BARO precisely at the same time I was reading your post …
Finally wearing a SUUNTO makes us very dangerous mens

I can see in my new Suunto RACE that I have at the same time altitude and compass
This is fundamental when you are in mountains …
