@errin Hi, this had been discussed in the forum, not the peak in concrete, all the suunto watches.

the best way to use a zwift and easy watch is to use zwift and import workouts in the platform you are.

In the case of suunto you can import the session via apps (like rungap in iOS) or using web like quantified-self.io

Actually there is no good way to use a watch and zwift. Some watches can broadcast the heart rate but nothing else.

For the Elite trainer (and elite app), importing fit files by quantified-self.io does not work properly. You can find more about this case here:

@bulkan actually zwift works pretty well with a lot of the Garmin models now:

It is just the sync of training load from Zwift to Garmin status (which is great and I want it) but nothing with the use of the watch during the work out.

@bulkan why would you use the watch during the workout - all the data you need is on the screen in front of you and it syncs it all across to connect? It then syncs that data across to the watch so the watch can then do all the calculations (training analytics is all watch based on the Garmin not server bsed), and then syncs it back to the connect app/website.

@jamie-bg well, @errin was asking about using the watch with zwift, I commented is worthless.

About the backward sync I remember conversations were I mentioned, specially nowadays, where we have multiples watches. But it isn’t related with the use of the watch.

Suunto app does all the work right now, I want sync all the watches and an API of health were weight, pulse, thresholds are synced there… but that is another topic.

@bulkan Some Garmins can control the TACX witch is a great feature.

@gilaug yeah is cool when you are in a erg workout… but nowadays with zwift you can control that with companion app.

@jamie-bg I agree here - would be great if this data integration existed between Zwift and Suunto app. Would allow you to get decent updates on the TSS data based on power, rather than HR. Does anyone know if this is planned at all as a feature? I’m the Zwift app you can “connect” to Garmin….would be awesome if you could “connect” to Suunto and pull all the data across.

@manterfn the direct connection is requested to zwift. About the data you can import the fit file from zwift to Suunto app. I use RunGap in iOS or quantified-self.

@Bulkan sorry for reviving a very old thread, but I see that this hasn’t been resolved yet.
I’ve gone back to Zwift after a bit of a break due to my injuries etc.

There simply is not an option to sync Suunto with Zwift. Sure, you can import your workout with the likes of SyncMyTracks or RunGap, but that’s nothing but a crude way of going around things - for example the heart rate data is way off, ascent and descent data is missing and the most important part is that the watch is unaware that you did any workouts, so you don’t get the fitness insights or training load analysis. - basically useless

On top of that, I have my Suunto app synced with Strava and when I import my Zwift workouts to Suunto app, they get pulled to Strava twice with different values - one directly from Zwift and the other from the Suunto app (the manually imported one).

Why can’t Suunto work with Zwift if all the major sports watch and training platforms can?

                          SHUT UP LEGS!

@fejker I’m not sure I fully understand your issue.

I use my Suunto Race all the time with Zwift. I have the Suunto paired with my power meter (either my power meter pedals or my indoor trainer).

So I record the Zwift session as an indoor cycling activity in my Race and power and HR data as well as duration gets recorded by the watch and transferred to the Suunto App. These are the important metrics for Suunto App to take into account for the various training and recovery calculations.

Virtual speed, distance and ascend/descend info doesn’t matter.

BTW, this is also how I did it with my Polar Racer Pro. So no difference to Polar.

But maybe I missed your point!

@Mads-Hintz-Madsen thank you for this suggestion, I’m going to try this. Have you seen any connection issues with Zwift and indoor trainer having a watch recording the ride? I think it’s basically broadcasting only so I wouldn’t expect any issues there?

Hi Petri! I have not had any connection issues. As you said the watch just records the broadcasted signal from the indoor trainer which doesn’t affect the Zwift connection.

But there is one issue that one could face is if you want to use Bluetooth to connect the trainer to Zwift and the watch. If the trainer only supports 1 Bluetooth connection then this won’t work as you need two Bluetooth connections (1 for Zwift and 1 for the watch).

My Wahoo Kicker supports 2 (or is it even 3?) Bluetooth connections so I have no issue with using a full Bluetooth setup.

One workaround is to use ANT+ connection from the trainer to the computer running Zwift and use Bluetooth from the trainer to the watch. This is in fact the setup I normally use.
