Will slightly disagree on the showering - in that while this was also my common time for charging, to tack advantage of sleep tracking & resources - you also do want to wash the watch semi-regularly (just remember to lock the touch screen) - especially if you have been sweating. I also recommend switching to opposite wrist when sleep tracking, to give your normal wrist a break and a chance to breathe.

My comments on the showering are due to there being a chance of a small amount of soap residue getting trapped and staying in contact with the skin. This can cause skin problems which people usually then attribute to the watch.

Personally, I think it more important to remove the watch when showering, to ensure the wrist is thoroughly cleaned and rinsed off.

I always rinse my watch in fresh water after every exercise, and in 18 months of use there is no gunk or residue anywhere on the watch, not even in the smallest nooks.

I do not wear it at home simply out of habit, even for sleep monitoring I am afraid of breaking it.
Yes, I tried to install you tube music but without success (it was an area with little field) so I canceled almost immediately, could it be enough to complicate things?
Which app should you use for offline music not have problems?

        Thanks

I can one thing for certain, you will not break this watch whilst sleeping. The S7 is built like a tank and is very, very strong! I have clonked mine against brick walls, dropped it on the floor, bashed it on trees, fallen over wearing it, snagged it on clothes, and more. And the watch itself still looks almost brand new (the original strap however is now looking less than pristine!).
Please, do not worry about breaking this thing.
If you want to get the most of out the health monitoring - recourses and sleep tracking, etc. - then try wearing it 24/7 (although I recommend not wearing it in the shower/bath, as any soap that gets trapped behind it can cause skin problems - this is the perfect time to charge it instead).

Since you have tried YouTube Music and deleted it and are experiencing a similar issue to what I had, this seems a bit of a coincidence to me. I believe YTM is flawed (as is Spotify) and causes battery drain. The only way I was able to resolve it was to do a factory reset (although I didn’t have long to explore options, as I needed the watch urgently for a race).

Other apps for offline music - I can’t help here as I haven’t used any, sorry.

One thing I will say however, is that listening to music from the watch will rip through the battery, as it stops the watch entering low power mode during activity tracking.
I did some tests in the past (with offline music on Spotify, but it would be the same with any player) and was getting roughly 30% battery drop per hour. When I wasn’t listening to music I was getting roughly 10-12% drop per hour. Quite a difference!!

My recommendation is that if you want to listen to music then either take your phone, or a small mp3 player etc. Listening to music from a WearOS device is possible, but it eats through the battery.

Even today 14% went away for the bluetooth, I will try the reset.
I will wear it as much as possible
It seems absurd that having wears os I am forced to keep the clock by default because any app gives problems, or am I wrong?
        I keep you updated

That does seem very high. I have just charged mine to full, so can’t check what my Bluetooth usage is right now, but I will have look again tomorrow and Sunday.

Make sure you have continuous HR, resources, and sleep tracking turned on. I think you’ll find the data quite interesting - and hopefully useful.

I’m not sure what you mean? You can install many apps and use them happily on the watch. I’ve used Google Keep a few times with great success. I also use the assistant on my watch a fair bit.
However, where this watch really shines is in the fitness tracking and health data.

          Please do 🙂

Even when I reset my S7 the battery problem remains.
Loaded at 10 am to 8 pm it is 23% without particular use … some notification.

I echo this, something definitely isn’t right. My S7 is at 47% battery and the estimated life left is approx 1 day 2 hrs.

@meazzas9 i promised an update on my S7 from Friday, sorry for the delay. I accidently put it on charge briefly on Saturday (it’s automatic for me to put it on charge when I have a shower), so it has lasted a bit longer then expected.

During this time, I did no activity tracking (letting a knee injury recover) but did receive quite a large number of notifications.

As you can see, the battery life is significantly more than yours, but what stands out to me is the Bluetooth battery usage. It does seem like this is where your battery is being drained. Maybe a setting is causing an issue? Either on the watch or the phone? Or maybe there is a hardware issue? Contacting support may be your best best, sorry 😞

Side note, have you tried wearing it 24/7 yet? Have you got the body resources and sleep tracking data? If so, how are you finding it?

The Bluetooth connection makes me last the battery of the S7 around 14 / 18h.
The discharge trend is sudden and continuous until the phone is restarted, on more than one occasion I have noticed that the discharge curve is much slower and consumption approaches 2/3 days.
In the days with the best battery estimate, the bluetooth “fault” degradation accounts for 1%, the biggest problem is that consumption starts to rise for no apparent reason … I find myself with the modified battery curve and the bluetooth percentage> 12 %
My use of S7 is as a smartwatch (for sent work, notifications and calls), for outdoor uses S9Baro.
Count that the clock is “exploited” more in working hours.
In the night monitoring with “normal” bluetooth it absorbs me 6/9% instead when the problem occurs it even reaches over 40%
The connected mobile is a Samsung A40 with the latest updates.

Here is the configuration of my Suunto 7

                    • Suunto dial

@meazzas9 There is definitely something strange going on here. I have just had a new best of 56hrs of battery life from my S7 (no activity tracking during that time, just used as smartwatch).
This is still with my usual settings:
                      AoD off
                      power saver tilt
                      many notifications
                      24/7 HR on
                      sleep tracking on
                      etc.

You mention that it is a Bluetooth bug that only happens now and then. I wonder if this could be related to something on the phone? Maybe there is an overly aggressive power setting on the phone that is killing the connection to the watch, thus causing the watch to hunt for a connection? This would cause it to drain the battery quickly?

                      Just a thought…

@meazzas9 check the power/battery settings in the phone first, it could be a simple fix that doesn’t require a reset.

                          Worth a try.

If unsure, do a Google search for battery optimisation on your specific phone.

Make sure it isn’t killing WearOS or the Suunto App (i think WearOS migt be the important one here)

Just got my S7 three days ago and I already charged it like three times between playing around checking the apps……

Today, I charged it to 100% at 7am it’s 13:30pm and my battery went down to 85% without any usage?!

It says I have one day left.

                            Is this normal?

I have raise to wake off

@optics-field-test WearOS (as with Android on pones) takes roughly a week to fully settle down and to adjust to your typical usage. This is part of the adaptive battery and means the first few days will not be representative of true battery life.

If after a week you still get poor battery life then it is worth looking at. But in the mean time it’s nothing to worry about.

                                @olymay Hi,

Thank you mate for the swift response and reassurance.

I hope the battery will improve, I will certainty give it a week and see if things improve. So far it seems worst then my my Apple Watch S6.

Btw the watch arrived dead with no battery at all. Not sure if this bad or not?

                                Finger crossed!

@optics-field-test I typically get an easy 48hrs from a charge (although recently i’ve been getting well over 50!)

                                  I have:
                                  Always on display OFF
                                  tilt to wake OFF

                                  Continuous HR ON
                                  Sleep tracking ON
And plenty of notifications throughout the day

Although recently I haven’t been doing any activity tracking due to an injury. Obviously, activity tracking (especially if using GPS) will affect the battery life.

You should be easily outlasting any Apple Watch with battery life.

I got my S7 over 18 months ago, so I can’t remember how it arrived in the box, sorry.

                                    @olymay WAW that sounds great!

I am crossing my fingers that mine gets to this stage of battery life.

I guess like all smart watches they need time to settle down. Finger crossed.

Did your watch also had worst battery the first couple of days??

                                    Thanks

@meazzas9 what operating system are you using? Android or IOS.

My watch sometimes it disconnect too easily from my IPhone. Only 10 meters away and it’s disconnected.

I probably should have wifi on Auto but it does kill the battery especially when using for Google store. I tend now update or install an app only if my watch is on charge

Have you checked the power settings of the phone? Some phone manufactures use aggressive app management to extent battery life. Make sure there isn’t anything killing the Bluetooth connection or the WearOS app.

Normal usage battery life is anywhere from 1.8 to 2.7% / hr depending on settings and usage. So yes well within the norms, especially as most peoples first week isn’t really normal usage as you are using the watch far more than you normally would, and that beautiful screen loves to suck up the battery.
