@tonyg I read somewhere it should be around 3 hours, depending on HR values, I think it was mentioned in the forum and in the belt manual. But I suspect it should be more than enough, since, I think, belt transfers the data to the watch during an activity once it re-establishes connection.

@traileyes I actually bought the Enduro too, around the same time my training partner did. The size was awesome, 1mm bigger than the S9B so legibility whilst training was excellent. However, it was just so much more than I needed and even though I also run ultra’s it was a little overkill. I couldn’t fault it for what it is and does but personally I prefer the S9B so yep, I hear you 👍

@tonyg said in Why I've shelved my Peak for a 9:

Using the Suunto Smart belt should get around the issue as mentioned by @DMytro as it records the session on the belt, not sure how much data it will record before overwriting itself though, may be worth exploring in case you do multi-day events, be interesting to know anyway if anyone has that info.

This is all in the manual.

@likarnik if you can send me, in PM, the link to some activities when the drop happens, I’ll forward it to the developers at Suunto to work on a fix.

Really weird as not my experience - have to wonder if it isn’t more related to specific models, and if a F6xPS due to the titanium bezel maybe gets much better GPS than those with a Steel bezel.
My tracks are always within 0.1 of what Strava says if not the same number and elevation is always within 2/3m if not the same number. Checked approx last 30 tracks and all are basically the same (running, walking and hiking - no trail running).
In regards to find phone - never had an issue as long as connected to bluetooth (assume you have whitelisted connect app - am also on Android and the way Apple restricts that may make a difference), wallet - no issues other than if tracking an activity then it will not work, so have to go resume later (hackers - an issue for anything so really don’t worry about it, plus hackers never got that info according to Garmin - our company has just advised us that our outsource payroll company - a massive one is currently being held to ransome - so if a company like that can be - everyone can - so really just something we all have to live with); music - use amazon music, own music and never an issue - works like a dream - much better than my experience with wear os. Biggest issue I had around music was with the media controller - and not Garmin fault - google/android issue - when I launched my music it was launching google now podcasts in the background (but not showing in notifications - so watch media controller wouldn’t show what was playing cause as far as it was concerned it had two sources - pressing start on media controller would pause the phone music app, and then pressing the music app would start music and would now show google now podcasts in notifications - as soon as I swiped away the google now podcasts notification my watch media controller would start showing my media - fortunately however a recent update seems to have fixed the google now podcast issue - so don’t get that as an issue anymore.

I use the Polar H10 with the s9b and s9p and didn’t experience this issue.

Even using the band with dual Bluetooth connection and adding and ant+.

I have my DFA alpha 1 with 3 or 4% of artifacts. That’s a good data.

I will check it with only the peak and the H10.

@tonyg wow. That’s not normal. I see. Look my data. Is excellent.

If it is continuous I would contact support. Sorry.

@tonyg I didn’t have the issue with the S9B combined with the H9 chest strap.

I stopped using the chest strap when I switched to the S9P. Pretty solid optical readings except for a while ago when I noticed drops 30-40 min into a run (about the same as your last graph). After a soft reboot the watch optical HR is spot-on again. I have no idea if this is because of the soft reboot or warmer weather or just pure luck or…
                      Maybe it’s worth a try.

Next days will be colder and I will use the H9 chest strap again with the S9P. I’ll let you know if I see some strange behavior.

Thanks @surfboomerang @Bulkan, I am switching to my s9B for a while see if I continue to get issues, I cant recall having any issues with the S9B so fingers crossed, I’ll run it for a month and if no issues then I will contact support and ask for a fix, it seems to happen on runs of over an hour but I recall it also happening on shorter runs also.

Interesting that I use HR belts for around 15years now, and did not have any issues. They started with old Suunto belt (got it with A3P), replaced two of them and moved to H10. And now H10 is having issues too 🙂 sorry for offtopic, do we have separate one for this kind of stuff?

I had same issues hr dropping to 40 bpm with H10 while running 250W until I started washing it every time after activity. I disabled all features and I keep sensor disconnected from belt when not in use.

@lexterm77 I have been washing mine also after every use, but I never disabled the ant+ as I use it to connect to my Concept2 Rower, but I could in theory close off the 2nd Bluetooth output and if given the option the old protocol (cant remember which it is).
Heart Rate Data is important to me and as such Santa (the wife) has just ordered a new Suunto Belt and Module - with its internal memory this should get around the issue for now.

@surfboomerang I found colder weather works worse for both optical readings and heart straps for me.

I tried a S3 once and returned it after it wouldn’t read anything when the temperature dropped below 0°C – I blamed that on the reduced blood flow in my skin.

Heart rate straps suffer form the lack of sweat and the low temperature (reduced output of the battery) when it’s freezing. Usually takes anywhere from 1 to 2k to get a decent stable reading from my H10 when it’s cold and dry.

@soylent-yellow For those colder, dry days I use conductive gel on the pads. Works like a charm!

around +10°C I start using the OHR again.

@tonyg First, I do not have HR drops with the Suunto SmartSensor, moreover, it has a memory feature so if any data are lost they sync back to the watch. None of these other belts can sync back to the watch. I have used this sensor with A3P, Spartan Ultra, S9B and S9Peak with no issues. Using another brand does not mean Suunto necessarily has an issue.
Second, I am likely older than you and I find the Peak easier to read than the baro, despite the smaller size. I do not use anymore than 4 or 5 fields per screen.
