Suunto's newest watch is the 5 Peak
-
@traileyes this 5 Peak isn’t on the Suunto website yet. Does that mean that you’re a bit early with your anouncement?
-
@mff73
as mountain men we need baro
I am really curious about next releases, too -
@freeheeler maybe S11 or S9 peak max
-
This is a nice looking watch and very lightweight - great! But where are the innovations? Look elsewhere. Maybe next time.
-
@freeheeler it’s shame they didn’t include the baro sensor. I think it will be worth it, even if the price will jump to $349 due to its presence. But they know better. I’m still wondering that Coros pace 2 for $199 has everything inside. How the heck they are doing it?

Cheap labor?
-
Let’s wait for full S5P specs, but if S5P had baro I’m not sure if I would need S9P anymore
-
@markytarky 245 doesn’t have a Baro also. I like the idea of a minimalistic watch (lightweight) for flat running…
-
@markytarky
I don’t know any details about that watch and I might be on thin ice here… but if Suunto had added a baro sensor to S5P it would be an S9P, or am I completely wrong? -
Looks like at 4:15 am U.S. Eastern Time, there will be a video premiere of some sort spotlighting the 5 Peak, for those who are eager to see more of the new watch: https://youtu.be/u-bg-fNg-t0

Maybe there‘s not only the adaptive training plan on the watch, but finally also user defined structured workout support introduced. If so, Suunto would make me very happy
-
Let me guess: there’s still no compass.
-
@mountainchris fair enough. I have nothing against it, just discussing I will never buy it as I’m in the mountains and woods 90% of my trainings.
-
@wmichi or user based recovery (depending on fitness, training, sleep) or stamina

Which I miss on the S9P
-
@markytarky me also. Using S9. But I often run also long and flat. A light second watch would be cool for this, or for daily things, where you do not need baro… Is SA full capable to use more Suuntos or do you need to disconnect an reconnect?
-
@mountainchris As far as I know, SA supports multiple devices. But you have to manually select the currently used/active device in SA. The downside is, data is not synchronized two way. If you do a workout using watch 1, you won‘t see it on watch 2. Also the statistics (weekly training hours) are not updated on watch 2.
-
Let’s see what happens in 40 minutes.
-
@freeheeler I’m doing without baro just fine, small hills are a pain though. I wonder, if 5p has compass, since the original 5 didn’t.
Next up, s3p and s7p? Maybe s9XL? -
@dmytro next could be maybe S9XL because S3 and S7 are newer than S9B
