@dulko79 it was there in S5 already, if I understand correctly, it’s nothing that special, but still cool. And last time I asked it wasn’t supposed for s9.

@łukasz-szmigiel software-wise I believe it is the same as the S5 (like the S9P is the same as the S9B), hardware wise there are multiple changes.

I wonder if the S5P’s display is better readable than the S9P. The display of the S9P has a lot of reflections, which makes it barely readable in shadows on a sunny day. At least for me (with very good eyesight).

My very fast comment on the new watch: it is very light, very comfortable, perfect to wear for long time. It is the watch for me? No, I prefer to have a barometer because I am interested in mountain activities, but to each their own device.

@isazi I wonder though, what makes 260 euro difference?
S5p doesn’t have baro, sapphire screen and light sensor, but costs 2 times less.

@dmytro not sure I can answer, market does not always makes sense (no matter what Adam Smit says). But also the body of the S9P is metal, while the S5P is plastic. Also smaller screen.

                        @dmytro maybe material grade/quality difference?

                                Couple of thoughts/questions:

                                • On the back of the watch, one can read 30M water resistance only… Wasn’t S5 50M?
                                • One can also read OW175 there, which is the Suunto 3 label, right? 😄 Perhaps graphic designers weren’t careful enough?
                                • Is it the same Valencell OHR sensor again that many people were complaining about? Or did it get any better?

                                SV: fingers crossed :D
S9 (non-baro): died after 2 months, replaced, holding strong since 03/20
Spartan Trainer: casing broke after 23 months, repaired, lost watertightness 5 months later, died
Despite some pretty bad luck, I still love Suunto!

The real watch has OW202 on the back.

The HR is pretty good, not as good as the S9P, but pretty good. Usually few bpm difference from a chest strap. I only had issues in very cold weather where all OHR sensors tend to struggle.

@inkognito is the version 2.0 of the sensor.

                                    Is pretty good reading.

I think it is a nice watch and as Joaquin says in his video a good choice for the targeted market.

What I think is a bad strategy from Suunto is present it just 2/3 days after Garmin presented the F7. I think Suunto should have presented it some days before the F7 or wait some weeks. Lots of reviewers have their bellies full with Garmin and they are not talking about the S5P.

I thought it looks like an S5 squeezed into an updated S3 body 🙂

garmin released another flagship, but Suunto is targeting a wider group of people… maybe this release date was clever, because people see a new watch that costs a fortune and only few days later they see a nice new watch that is affordable
