Suunto race stuck in waiting for update screen

Recently received a brand new suunto race for Christmas and I am having trouble downloading the new software available for this unit. My watch is currently displaying “waiting for update” . I push the right button and it allows me to either install the old 2.28 software or the new 2.30 . When I opt to install the 2.30 software it goes into download mode but on my suunto iOS app it loses connection. Once it’s done downloading the software on the watch it asks me for my personal info and all the setup jazz……after I input all this info the watch then says to pair up with the suunto app to which I do, immediately after I’m able to sync with my iOS app the watch goes straight into the “waiting for update” screen again. I have reset the watch once, unpaired and paired for iOS suunto app, performed a soft reset and nothing, the watch seems to be stuck in a loop, I don’t know what to do now, any help would be much appreciated.
