Not everyone happy, I personnaly would wait for next(?) Vertical S .
Let see how maps are readable in this next one (if maps are there) -
@Mff73 With wifi and the name, I think maps are there. The readability should be decent thanks to amoled.
On the data we could extract from the documents posted:
nfc seems out but I don’t know it is used in race and the battery capacity is way lower than race (expected due to size), so let’s wait for info on battery life.A Vertical S could be a great addition for MIP lovers
-
@raceaddict Maybe the battery is smaller, because there is no AMOLED? That would also be an interesting device: About as small as a S9PP but with the display of the Vertical (maybe 1,3") and the battery life of the AMOLED Race. I love these speculations…
-
@wmichi The only real difference between Vertical and Race is the display technology. I don’t see them naming this watch Race S and don’t put an amoled display
-
@raceaddict And that Race is marketed as a performance watch, while Vertical is for the adventurer/explorer. Theoretically a performance watch could also have a MIP display.
But I think you are right, it will have AMOLED, because it’s a lot cheaper than MIP, so that the price can be kept even lower than the Race price. And if you watch all the reviews about sport watches on YouTube, it seems everybody wants AMOLED nowadays.
-
Interesting to note it will have dual-band GNSS. There’s also a photo of a prototype model which shows the angled bezel like the Race and a lack of buttons on the one side which suggests they are sticking with the 3-button or 2-button+crown interface.
-
Does package marking “designed and made in Finland” means that the Race S itself will be made in finland ?
-
@Tieutieu Everything in the documents seem to indicate it , first and foremost it is registered by Suunto Oy (as 9pp and vertical) and not Suunto Sports Technology( Dongguan)Co., Ltd. (as race)
-
@raceaddict Also in antenna specifications test report doc, there are some “3d representations” with no rotative crown, but 3 buttons like on SV.
If so this RACE S would be as close to the SV than the SR : a perfect mix in a smallest design !
That makes me so impatient !! -
@Tieutieu But in the same document there is a view with a crown. And these representations seems too close to the vertical . I think they are only “representations”
I hope we will see soon -
@raceaddict Ohhh right I had not seen it at first. Let’s wait (please not too long ! ) and see !
But on the other side I had sworn to my wife I would not buy a new Suunto until a while… -
Best guess? End of May or June?
-
@raceaddict Ugh, a Race S in a size like that (43-44mm) I would like very, very much. Maybe too much.
-
@raceaddict can not find that pic…are you able to share? Thx
Edit: found it

Suunto Race S , Bezel diameter 43.0mmis it supposed to come out in november? N/A date 2024-11-14…

Nope, that tells nothing about the actual release date. It’s just a date until which no further info on the new watch will be disclosed by the fcc. One could interpret it as “we’ll have more info and watch will come out before november”.
Usually, it takes something like a month I think between the fcc file and the release so I expect more info coming out in june. -
