That was my answer!
Could you be a bit more specific? So only 3 simultaneous Bluetooth connections are supported? Or is it 4 now that there is Di2 support?
I believe the Di2 support is in SuuntoPlus so a bit different than counting BT connections. You can connect an HR strap, Power meter and Speed/cadence combined in the watch. Then Di2 in the Plus app. You cannot connect 2 HR straps or 2 speed/cadence or 2 power meters so just counting BT connections is not appropriate.

@Mads-Hintz-Madsen Yes, definitely something for me to have a look at Thank you for the report.
Did you notice if watch was showing gears or other Di2 information after 3 hours? Most probably problem was in the SuuntoPlus app or in the connection with Di2. Maybe Di2 was disconnected from watch for some reason, and connection was not restored. Sending logs from Suunto app might have been useful, but it’s probably too late in this case.

I didn’t check the Di2 info on the watch during the ride. In fact, I never check my watch while riding as I have all the info I need on my cycling computer. I only use the watch during a ride for the fitness tracking.
I had the Di2 S+ app activated yesterday on another ride as well. This time the Suunto App only shows gear info for the first 1.5h (of a 5h ride).
Actually, I’m now wondering if the Di2-to-watch connection automatically is restored after the watch has been out of range from the Di2, e.g., for a coffee stop? Or does one have to manually reconnect the watch to the Di2? I wonder if that is what has happened?!
Edit: I sent logs to Suunto and messaged you with the details.
-
@Mads-Hintz-Madsen Connection should be restored automatically after watch has been out of range. I tested it, and reconnection works for me. I’ll need to test more, and also check if problem could be in Suunto app side when showing the gear data.
Regarding discovery mode, I can connect to my Di2 also in discovery mode, I’m not sure why it doesn’t work in some cases. We’ll have to update our instructions about connecting to Di2.
And thanks for the logs, but looks like watch logs from the time of your workout were already lost.

Got it. I’ll use the Di2 app on my next ride as well and upload logs if same thing happens.

I tried to connect my 11-speed Ultegra Di2 and my 11-speed XT Di2 now three times without success. Looks like it does currently only work with 12-speed Di2.
-
@zucchero I don’t know why 11 speed Di2 would work differently. We have updated SuuntoPlus Di2 app, you could try if it works any better with 11 speed Di2 now. If it still doesn’t work, sending logs from Suunto app would be useful.
-
Apparently many 11 speed Di2 devices are not supported, I will try to get more specific information about supported devices.
-
@Raimo-Järvi I tried again and we are one step further. I can connect with 11-speed XT & Ultegra Di2, but I do not get data on my Race (see picture). I’m I now official Tester for Suunto? Regarding the logs, I’m not aware how to send log from the Suunto app!?

@zucchero go to Settings, scroll down until you find a “Send logs to Suunto” button
-
Looks like the issue is fixed now. After connecting with my 11-speed Di2 I can see the current gear on my Race.
I’m just wondering why I had to re-install the SUUNTOPLUS Shimano Di2 App to make it work.
I thought SUUNTOPLUS apps are updated with every sync of the Race with the Suunto App? -
@zucchero There was an update to the SuuntoPlus Di2 app last Friday, it fixes some connection issues with Shimano Di2, but there are still some remaining issues (Bluetooth connection is sometimes disconnected).
Yes, SuuntoPlus apps should be updated in every sync with Suunto mobile app.
-
@Raimo-Järvi How do you know about the update? Are there release notes? Is there an official page?
-
@zucchero the S+ description in the Suunto App has information of when it has been updated.
DI2 shows 7.6.25 16:53 -
@zucchero @Raimo-Järvi is working at Suunto and in charge of (most?) S+ apps. So you got a reply directly from the source
-
@isazi Thank you! Good to know.
Was there another update on 11.06.2024, 18:40 or am I looking for the date of the update in the wrong place?
-
@zucchero You’re looking at the right place, I guess that’s “My SuuntoPlus sports apps” view. But I don’t know why it shows a different date for you, for Di2 app I see 7.6.2024 17:53, that’s when it was last updated. Are you using iOS or Android?
Unfortunately we don’t have any release notes page for SuuntoPlus apps. We’re still working on some issues in Shimano apps, we’ll post an update here when they’re fixed.
-
@Raimo-Järvi Thank you for the info. I’m using iOS 17.5.1
-
I found an other issue with the Shimano Di2 app:
When I start Bicycling (Basic) with SHIMANO Di2 switched OFF in the SuuntoPlus Sports Apps, then there is nevertheless the screen for SHIMANO Di2 right after the screen with the map. The SHIMANO Di2 screen shows no data, about what I’m not surprised, because I wasn’t asked to connect.
When will all these issues be fixed?
-
@zucchero Did you have “SuuntoPlus: None” shown in workout menu before starting the workout?
See my reply in e-bike app thread, Bluetooth issue is the same in both Shimano apps:
