Compass while scuba diving?

My understanding (which can be wrong, don’t take this as a promise) is that underwater compass will be available in the next software update.

In the D5 the compass exists, just select it on the screens.
In the ocean it is not at the same point and therefore probably does not exist at the moment
I will also wait for updates

I’ve notice it right now after my first dive. Since I’m an Instructor and in a lot of cases a dive guide, compass is an essential tool underwater . My D5 had the option. It was perfect. Ocean does not. At least not right now. I think Suunto here made a small mistake .

@VasilisCY compass will come with next update, it’s already being tested. I also don’t know why didn’t they include in the release firmware.

@isazi May I have two questions

Will there be an update (when it comes out) similar to the options in Vertical and RACE? (with watch screen settings)
Will there be an option in the update that in free diving mode we will receive the current dive time and not a total accumulated time?

I agree that these are essential dive compass functions. Let’s keep a keen eye on the next software update before we run to the shop. Would also be great if Suunto could confirm themselves. Are they monitoring this forum?

@Frank-Scholer it’s being tested (I have it on my watch) but Suunto does not share its update roadmap.

The compass application, which is currently not available in SCUBA mode, by itself does not have the basic direction-taking option that all normal diving watches with a compass have, so we hope that this will also be corrected (adding compass and scuba options on the compass) with an update. Because the compass as it is now on the watch is not very useful for diving

@dreammaster It is indeed kind of useless right now. It is a bit disappointing not to have that function. I hope the update will come within the next few days… hope remains

I do hope Suunto releases an update soon. I’m going on a diving safari as a guide in October and without a compass the Oceanic is useless. I’ll have to buy a Garmin. I don’t understand it at all. After legends like Stringer, D family, EON etc… Suunto launches such an incomplete product. Too bad. I was looking forward to it.
