@damuko I think the idea of both straps is in winter you can wear the watch over a jacket. I have found this very useful.

How are vibrations on Race S? For me S9PP an Vertical did not feel decent for my personal feeling (too noisy, too strong, …).
-
@zebulon Hi! I totally agree, please, please make it possible to play mp3s directly from the watch through bluetooth headphones.
I know the reviewers are asking themselves “who even listenes to mp3s in 2024” but I know quite a few people who actually still do.
I understand it is not a priority to work on but please do not totally discard mp3 playback feature as not important at all.
Thanks and cheers to you all! -
@raceaddict it says that against the black on online now.
Any thoughts on if the other colours will be available at the same time? I really want the pink!

you should be pleased with it.
not noisy like some S9PP. To me it seems to be just right -
The German official Suunto website says that the sales launch for the Race S is 9th July. Yeah! Looking forward to next Tuesday then. Maybe this is as well the date for the firmware update for the other watches? In one of the pictures pre-launch I have spotted at that time also a newer version of the Suunto app. I remember it had a more modern (my opinion) layout. Also the women’s cycle tracking is still missing. So next Tuesday bid day?

Has Suunto changed the night mode/DND so that if I tap the screen in the middle of the night, the screen does not go to full brightness? I returned the Race for that and many more reasons but now ordered the Race S to test that out.

Actually, with DND on, tapping the screen does nothing. You need to press a button to activate the watch…

It goes brightness You set when You tap on screen within 60s of last watch use if im not wrong. If You used last time watch 60s+ ago, tap on screen doesnt work and You need to press any button first.

@Tami999 So it will still blast the sme brightness as daytime? Because Garmins and Apples that I have had all have subtle sleep mode displays. Just enough brightness to see the time.
-
@Marko1478 I got wake up at wrist move on light level, and its barely visible (but more than enough for me) to see all data, and its great battery-saver. If i want much brighter screen i press any button to wake up watch.

Hello Suunto community!
First post here. I am considering Race S for my new watch, but I have two questions.
What size screen protector do you need for Race S?
What is the real life battery life? I would be using gesture base display, HR 24/7, notification off and some activities. Can you squeeze out like a week on one charge?
Battery life is my main concern here. Like, one week, I can live with it. If it’s more like 4-5 days, I guess the full size Race is a better option. -

-
That’s too bad. It’s not a deal breaker for me, but battery life and degradation are kind of important to me.
Shame that full size Race doesn’t come with some fancy colour straps. Not going to buy a replacement strap for a brand new watch. -
@StefanPancake I love the smaller size of the Race S and it is my preference as a daily driver as was the 9PP. I wear the Vertical when I need it. The Race S is hardly noticeable when sleeping. I do 12-20h of exercise a week and I do not mind charging the watch every 4-5 days, it charges while I drive to work. So, I would base your choice on preferences, charging is not a big deal.
The screen pixel density is much higher on the Race S as both Race and Race S have the same number of pixels. It is a very nice watch. I have worn it a lot for the last 6 months. -
I have just received the birthday gift for my wife.
I’m not sure if I can wait until she will open the package, or I will open it -
Hi you all Suunto Race S users! Got mine today. Very nice watch overall! One question about the crown button. When you scroll the crown, it is much more stiff than e.g. the crown on Suunto Race (and other watches with crown button). With Suunto Race, I could scroll the crown with one finger. But with Suunto Race S, I need two fingers to scroll. Are you experiencing the same? Should it be like that or is mine just extra stiff?
-
@SuuntoR I’ve never used a crown on another watch besides the Race S, so I don’t have a good benchmark to compare it to. That said, I wear the Race S on my right arm and can easily scroll with my left thumb. I haven’t encountered any stiffness.
-
Thank you for your answer! Not possible to scroll with just thumb on my watch. First thought Suunto has just made the scroll to feel more robust. But I think this one has a faulty button. Used to scroll e.g. alarm time with crown on my Suunto Race and that was so easy and fast.

The same here. It looks like it’s meant to be.
