Box Breathing

I just noticed this new app in the SuuntoPlus Store and I’m excited to try it
It’s just a pity that you cannot configure a duration for each sleep phase, e.g. inhale - exhale - hold, but perhaps it will be improved later.P.S. when I first installed, I couldn’t switch it on before starting an activity; I had to reinstall it a second time.

@Francesco-Pagano Nice find! Another functionality from the forums wishlist, maybe I switch from the " Suunto doesn’t listen" back to the fanboys again
And I understood the clue in box breathing is that all four phases have the same duration. And this duration can be configured in the App.
But I’m new into Box Breathing, so thats just what I found -
Ciao @Francesco-Pagano, you actually can configure the cycle time, both in the Suunto App and in the watch itself! Check it out. I’ve found particularly clever the way it’s implemented in the watch.

@fv4500 that sets the same duration for each breathing phase though. What I am referring to is a specific duration for each phase, for instance inhale for 2, exhale for 4, hold for 2 etc.
That would no longer be “box breathing” by definition, I know, but it would allow us to do different breathwork exercises. -
I saved a short activity using Yoga / Pilates sport mode where I was using a HR belt, and interestingly the .fit file includes HRV data, which I opened with fitfileviewer. So I guess this app could be further enhanced to display HRV data on the watch or on SA.
Just to check how to extract basic HRV information, I downloaded the RR Intervals file from fitfileviewer (it’s a .txt file) and asked chatGPT to extract the data, it works pretty well!

@Francesco-Pagano agreed, in the past I’ve used box breathing and it was not a box, but a rectangle… apneas were much shorter than in/exhales. It seems that the S+ app we discussing is a box by design. Maybe in the future.

I know this is not the answer you’re looking for, but I practice breathing exercises for decades (coming from a martial arts background) and while box breathing is great to come into breathing, I would highly recommend NOT to concentrate on counting or seconds but on what you feel and how your inner body directs your breathing naturally and let it flow
