suunto race s wifi problem after update 2.39.20
-
@iterumtenta that‘s exactly why I use Suunto too! Very well said!
-
@iterumtenta this is community where we are trying to help each other. Fact is that we have 3 people with brand new watches with dysfunctionalities. And that we can’t ignore that fact and take as occasionally or by accident. Only one member of this community who is owner of watch made in Finland confirm to us that his watch is working. Time is priceless for everyone of us, only time we can’t revert back. So, why I need to spending my time on product they are defective, contacting support AI generated answers, returnig to shop or repair centre??? At least I am expecting if I paid 350 euros for watch to work as advertised. @ChrisA you also spent your time to resolve issue, but by your were lucky made wifi connection before upgrade, and probably it is saved on cache memory or somehow and it is not affected by sw version 2.39.20, you confirm that. For me goal is to prove that is problem with firmware and to put pressure on suunto support and developer to release new update. I will repeat again, I am coming from IT field, cooperate with developers, testers etc. It is shame that suunto as brand allowed this huge mistake before fully testing watch. @iterumtenta I don’t now what is your point to justify Suunto support and ignore facts?
-
@disadisa If you read posts in the forum, it is said the Suunto has acknowledged the issue with the wifi and with the OHR and they intend to release a fix ASAP. In some place it is also written down that they already have tested 12 firmwares iterations to try to solve the issues.
Let them work, I do not believe that they have any intention of not working on it. Maybe you come from IT developing new products but I work in service department where we solve the issues and bugs not found in the product development and when the machine is in production, and some times it is very, very, very difficult to find the root cause or make a solution that doesn’t break another thing.
You can be pissed off, I would too but in all my years here with the SUU, S9B and the SV I know they listen to us and try to solve things.
-
@disadisa I understand your frustration. However, claiming it is defective solely because it is made in China is incorrect and a waste of your/our time. Good luck with your investigation, and I hope those issues get resolved.

@stromdiddily exactly - @isazi posted that there is a planned fix in January. So shouldn’t be too long. From my logic it seems a rather complex problem, since some watches are affected while others are not and that it therefore seems to take longer testing to make sure it’s not buggy again.
-
Both my SRs and my SV are affected by WiFi bug. I can’t connect to network and so download maps. Not a big deal for now, I hope we will have a correction soon + new features !

Any news about the promised fix Update? The Forum members wrote end of this month…?!
Hurry Up until tomorrow -
Silence before the storm

-
@ChrisA unfortunately the fix that was originally planned (as far as I know) for this week has been postponed by few days while a fix for the OHR problem is properly tested (wifi seems to have been fixed).
-
@isazi No fix until today for the ohr Problem? 🥳🥳 A cheap watch will not work good aftee the last Update! Missing sleep Tracking and stopped Ohr. Thats the Suunto reality today
-
@GiPFELKiND
and so what ? -
@sartoric dont know and so what its the bad reality from suunto in these days
-
@GiPFELKiND, that may be your perspective. Personally, I have had no issues with my Suunto watch and appreciate their cautious approach to updates. Rather than succumbing to external pressure, they prioritize thoroughness and efficiency in addressing bugs, which is a commendable strategy.
-
@isazi thanks - I actually have zero problems with my race s, but I am sure others eagerly await it. But I appreciate it, that Suunto is thoroughly testing the new update!

Once time thank you everyone here for posts and there time. First of all, sorry for long post. Topic and post should be short and concise to reach goal, but sometime require more explanation to collect info and made right conclusion. Please do not get me wrong. I salute Suunto idea to provide watch model race s with full offline map and many other feature for fair price and affordable to ordinary people against overpriced competitor watches with similar feature. I am trying to put my self into the skin of ordinary people who does not have tech background and they know only that product does not work as advertised.
@iterumtenta it is not point to prove that made in china does not work I am trying to collect many info as possible from community to understand what’s happens? Maybe Suunto race S model have region/country specific hardware or software, which should be a normal, or have global edition then is other story. For example watch will not have same usage condition in environment in Norway or Saudi Arabia etc. temperature differences and temp impact on hardware. If they are using different hardware, gps chip, or wifi chip they need to develop and use different firmware or software to support and work properly. In IT field BUG are undesirable state, and serious brand use two direction to prevent it and have satisfied consumer. that would be QA (Quality Assurance) tester/engineer or beta tester community. QA are people receiving their salary to test product no matter it is hardware or software on unimaginable way of usage to prevent issue into mass production. Cheaper way is to have beta community tester. Ordinary people with some extensive knowledge about specific product to use their time as volunteers to help prevent BUGS before release product into mass usage. Suunto please do not made and repeat other mistake and please do not use US as customer to test your product for the basic functionality. @cosme-costa if you are working in service department then you know that department is crucial for customer satisfaction, increased number of returned product or requests for repair for software related BUG which is easy to fix is not excuse for time consume fix release also. I will repeat again if is region/country specific hardware or software issue than it maybe last a bit longer. In that case suunto has list of serial number on watches and can target it self to that area fix. Anyway, again thanks All of you once more time for your helpful post and opinion. I hope this topic will help Suunto to improve their response to built better support and prone to BUG product. I am also waiting for new SW update because reverting back to previous release as workaround is not working for me, to spare my self returning brand new watch to repair center and wasting another min. three week of time.
