@osscar Thx for comment. Second hand on my Race S went from lime to white and I wondered if it was my memory going wonky. Hope it goes back. I miss the lime green.

@Kramble Similar to same development for me on my Vertical, the watchfaces changes the complication without any reason and uses complications that I had deactivated. Only way out is to push the middle button. Not good!

using a Suunto Vertical & Suunto Wings; mostly running (AKA stomping around) and cycling mostly through the northern german "wilderness"

Hi all thanks for the report. We found the root cause of this issue.

            Thanks again

Here is the recording of my last swimming workout.
I swam 50 laps (swimming pool length = 25m), the first 20 going freestyle and returning backstroke, then the last 30 laps all freestyle. After each length I pressed the lower button of the watch (to mark the lap).
                    I swam for 1250 m but Race S tracked a distance of only 1050 m (-16% !!!).
You can see how the watch records incorrectly when you change style (the first 20 laps).
I hope Suunto checks this issue/bug and fixes it.
                    Thanks.

My impression is that before the latest updates, the recognition of swimming styles worked better. You have two choices at the moment: either get used to it, or get a watch that monitors swimming better, since this sport is from my own experience (and swimming is an integral part of my training) and based on reading this forum, absolutely Suunto’s weakest point. I personally let it go, because despite many signals to this day Suunto has not done anything about it. Mistakes in recognizing styles, not counting the swum lengths of the pool, all this I am forced to correct manually after training, which is very stupid. For example, what happens to the HR data generated during under-counted, missed lengths by the watch? How is the time that passes during the exercise being performed counted as rest?
And thanks to you, this is the first time I’ve read suggestions from the Suunto support site. I think they went a bit far overboard. They want you to adapt everything you do during training to the watch’s algorithm. Rather, it should be the other way around, it is the watch that is supposed to monitor everything you do during training, it is the algorithm that is supposed to be flexible, not the opposite. Imagine punishing runners to run at a certain pace only, otherwise the GPS will get lost. I’m not kidding, that’s the advice Suunto supports swimmers to swim at an even pace, not to stop or slow down, otherwise the watch will read it as a turnaround, a change of direction and charge another length. No joke, really?!
I suggested in another post to engage on demand (in training options) GPS for swimming in the pool (often such pools are covered only with a roof, so the signal is there). And I actually discovered that GPS can be enabled in the swim settings. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do anything, I suspect that this feature is not part of the plan at all, an essential part of the algorithm. I’d be happy to read others’ opinions on the matter.

                      Yesterday I swam 50 laps, so 1250 m, but Race S fw 2.39. 44 only recorded 1075 m. It lost 7 laps!

The first 20 laps I did freestyle + backstroke and the last 30 only freestyle (see image below).

At the end of every 25 m I pressed the down button to track the lap.

I did the same training as the previous week, see https://forum.suunto.com/post/163734

Please Suunto, it’s time to fix the incorrect distance estimation in swimming.
People can buy Suunto because it’s very nice but if it doesn’t do the main job (recording the activity correctly), they will go and buy other sports watches.

                      Thanks.
