Open Water Swimming: doesn't work at all
-
Hi.
As a few seem to be saying:
- Tracking when Open Water Swimming doesn’t work, like at all. Often has me on land, etc. It’s a mess. My hand being a couple of inches below the surface bamboozles the watch.
- The watch (the 9) works well all other times - I can’t see how this could be a settings thing.
How can this possibly be given Suunto is Suunto - what with such dive watch pedigree and such? Quite bizarre.
Thoughts anyone?
Tks

@David-Roberts Yeah, it seems to be not resolved by the new update. I struggle with similar issue in December.

@David-Roberts which model are we talking about? you mention the 9 and post in the Suunto Race channel.
Anyway. GNSS only works above the water. So for OWS you want to make sure to let the watch acquire position before entering the water and have a proper freestyle technique that has the watch above the water for at least some time of the stroke.
Of you swim differently you would need to put the watch somewehre else above the water, like on a pulled buoy or under your swim cap etc.For me and triathlons, OWS accuracy is exeptionally well.

See here two triathlon 1500m swims. Same course, two different years.
