    Hi all,

on my trailrun yesterday I saw the following behaviour of the oHR: Running without poles gave me more or less correct values for heartrate comparing with my feeling. When it got steeper I pulled out my poles but then I saw my heartrate dropping down to 120 or less which was definitly not matching my real heartrate. Putting the poles away oHR normalized itself to the correct values. Now I tried to support my legs by pushing my hands on the knees to go upwards and this also makes the heartrate value dropping.

Long story short: Keeping the arms/hands in normal running position gives reliable values for the oHR in my case. Using poles or holding the arms in another way makes the oHR values dropping down.

I had the watch fixed on my arm as it should be, not too easy or strong around my arm.

    Kind regards
    Marcus

I guess that the problem is not the position of arm itself (or not 100% related to it) but the fact you are putting pressure on hand so you stretch and contract the arm muscles.
Something similar happens doing any type of weight lifting, where you can see in fact a shifted HR graph.

This is one of the weak points of OHR

@sartoric Wrist flexing and OHR generally don’t go well together.

Though last week I had 8 minutes of perfect heart rate while doing kettlebells only to discover to my horror turned astonishment I forgot to pair my strap heart rate sensor (it was a brand new S9 and I wasn’t yet used to the new special external sensor icon).
