Software Update 2.40.44 (2025 Q1 Hotfix)
-
@tmclr said in Software Update 2.40.44 Beta (2025 Q1 Hotfix):
Can I ask what has changed with the step count algorithm?
I updated my 9PP yesterday and walked for 2km.
No change in step count accuracy - it still under reads significantly at approx 1100steps per km.it is supposed to detect better situations with not-swinging hand, like when you are holding an umbrella and likewise.
For me, this is working way better than before (not that I pay any interest in steps anyway, but just for the testing) -
@Egika This should also make steps more accurate with trekking poles? Garmin is notorious for horrible steps with trekking poles.
-
@Stavrogin yes. but better try it yourself.
Also be careful as OHR is usually going berserk with poles… -
@Egika true that. Not a priority but someday I would love to be able to track my pack weight for multi day backpacking treks. I know the weight would change as I eat the food in the pack, but it would still be interesting.

@pavel.samokha
the arrow on the barometer symbol is gone, I can’t see the latest status.
the Turkish equivalent of the sound level in music is not " hacim "
The sunset time on the main screen still does not decrease unless I trigger the clock. It is not dynamic
my tests continue. -
@safari the arrow will come back if the watch has sampled enough data since the update to show the trend. This takes around 3h or so.
Its the same with every FW update. -
@Egika
Ok, I’m following. -
@safari
even if you soft reset -
The update was installed without any problems. But as always, a sport mode is gone and the setting of the custom modes are adjusted. It’s annoying.

Feedback for the “Step counter accuracy” on a Race S
Would say it has improvedJust did a simple test : 100 steps, walking like a soldier
With previous firmware it gave me half the steps (47 and 53)
With beta firmware I got 97 and 103 stepsOn a short walk (850m)
forerunner 255 : 1296 steps
race S : 1313 steps (with previous firmware I had 950 steps) -
@sartoric nothing has changed
-
@safari You need a few hours after a reset for the trends to show
-
Installed, everything fine just the Resources graph on the watch went blank and value was set to 70% (default).
-
@Brad_Olwin
It returned to normal as of morning.
sunrise7sunset is refreshed every 10 minutes I think.
the real time on the screen is not working -
@Stavrogin this is a known issue and it should be fixed with the next app update (iOS) - there is another thread for that.
-
A problem that has existed for some time has not been fixed here either. It is not possible to load maps into the clock. Everything ends with a screen with the text Map download suspended. Connect the watch to the charger and wi fi
-
@safari
I mean that the baro icon doesn’t show the trend (need to “recalibrate”) also after a soft reset, not that a soft reset solves it -
@М-Б there is an issue that WiFi toggle doesn’t work. Unfortunately it can be only solved with “Reset All Settings” now
-
@pavel.samokha Will it be fixed in a future update? Otherwise, I will reset the watch but I fear I will lose data.
-
@sartoric wifi works correctly after reboot, no errors here. but maps are not loading. will they fix it before the official release?
