Hi everyone! What you brought up about the diving functions is interesting — and a bit worrying too. I personally really like this brand and this watch model. And what I’m about to say may sound strange, but I don’t dive at all, and yet I chose this model. The reason is simple: the materials used and the promised multisport functionality, and design. No compromises.

Now I see that you, who actually dive, have doubts. At first, I thought I could accept less frequent updates for reasons of safety, quality, and stability. After all, the diving functions must be taken very seriously — the diver’s safety comes first. But now I see that even you, who actually use the diving function, are not satisfied. So what will happen with the other so-called multisport functions?

In my point of view the perfection of the diving features is essential, but not sufficient. This watch has to be perfect both as a dive computer and as a multisport watch, as long as the hardware architecture allows it. At least, that’s my opinion. But as I reményét, that was the underlying promise.

It makes me wonder: has the watch actually brought in the expected revenue at the market level? After all, we’re talking about a company that lives from profit. And I say this as a true fan of the brand, but I’m concerned that if the watch hasn’t met fiscal expectations, Suunto will be reluctant to keep developing it further on the software side — especially given the much stricter requirements it needs to meet.

Maybe our only hope, beyond revenue, is prestige. It would be a huge own goal to let such a professional piece of equipment go to waste after Suunto’s earlier successful dive computers. If nothing else, let’s hope the revenue from other models sustains this one too. But the best would be if we knew that the Ocean is actually generating profit for the company.

I completely agree with you. I also believe the next update will be crucial – that’s when we’ll see whether the watch is truly competitive or not. A dive computer is typically used for many years, and even the big brands only release new models after several years.

That’s exactly why the software should – or rather must – be satisfactory for users. If not, existing customers will become dissatisfied or potential new customers will simply turn to alternatives.

I really hope that the futur update will fix at least the Heart rate stat. I was thinking at first to buy my Coros HRM for intense training but it seems that I need to wear it all the time to avoid wrong datas…
This is my easy run without any doubt I never reached more than 140 bpm…

@Miroslava yes I agree but before buying my Suunto Ocean I was not expecting to need other HRM for all my run.
Btw I agree with you, the Coros HRM is very confortable and work well

@Jean-Philippe-REY understand you, i dont have Ocean i have Race. Of course, it would be best to have heart rate measurement only from the watch, but that’s the music of the future. I was comparing the comfort compared to the polar. With the coros now I feel naked 🤣

That’s the point. For example, I don’t care about heart rate measurement… what I wanted was a dive computer in a watch format. Neither your expectations nor mine were met. Maybe Suunto simply bit off more than they could chew with the Ocean.

                  So, it remains interesting 🙂

Hi everyone! I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and more and more I feel that the main problem is not really that we don’t know when an update will be released, but rather that there is absolutely no official communication on whether there will be an update at all, and if so, what direction it will take, what it will focus on. I’m strictly referring to Suunto’s official communication here. For example, when it comes to diving functions, is the main goal to eliminate bugs, or is there talk of further development as well? And even if there won’t be further development, does Suunto’s diving team (I assume there is one) actually incorporate logical, practical suggestions made by other divers and users into development?

When it comes to sports modes, it’s also missing that—although understandably later due to the above reasons—the watch eventually receives the functions that other models already have, as well as the practical suggestions being added here too. This would be completely reasonable, and I assume this does in fact happen in the background. Any other direction would likely result in users abandoning the model. But since there is basically no official communication on anything—just leaks, or us bothering the moderators here, who obviously can’t say more than what’s official—what remains is user imagination filling the gap. And that brings with it everything: worries, mentions of other brands, doubts, and so on. This actually spoils the otherwise positive user experience.

If I could suggest something to Suunto, my humble suggestion would be to provide at least some information from time to time. Even if there is no exact release date, an official confirmation that an update is being worked on, what areas it will cover, and where it currently stands would already help a lot. There would probably still be some dissatisfaction, but much less. And if the directions also matched what I wrote earlier, those who use the watch for its functionality wouldn’t now be thinking about which brand to switch to.

As for the semi-official communication about delays—namely “safety first”—that line wears thin after a while. It’s fair to ask: if the manufacturer can’t manage to make sleep tracking in the app complete, or if buggy watch faces occasionally appear (some disappearing, others remaining), then how can they convincingly claim to handle safety issues?

So here and now, I’d like to offer Suunto my help in organizing their communication strategy in this area… 😉 Maybe things would improve. 🙂

Every day, I log into my Suunto Forum app, dreaming about this one year update on my Ocean that will hopefully bring me a lot of joy.
Well it seems that I will have to wait longer 😅.

                        2.44.46

“It is not possible to compare. Ocean still requires more reliable testing to ensure better performance during dives and bla bla bla…”

Yes, I know Suunto does not deliver the best performance even for one of its top sellers. Vertical clients accept limited testing and lower performance. I know this is true.

                          Hi everyone!
Let’s stay optimistic — negativity has never brought anything good. Of course, I’m not saying we should be naive instead, just that there are still a few days left. I mean, earlier on the forum there was some info shared that the developers are working on the update and should be done with it soon, that it’s coming. At most a month. Of course, they also wrote that there’s no guarantee or promise, so it’s not certain either… but still, it’s a positive sign. There are 5 days left from that. So this week is still theirs. 🙂 I just hope they’re not only starting on it now. 😉

Sure, let’s stay positive. Maybe we’ll make it by December.

Honestly, Suunto has failed – and on several levels. You can also see it in their overall communication… I’ve been waiting for weeks now for a reply to my email and social media message (about a different topic). Really makes me feel like a valued customer.

I’m actually not that concerned that it seems to be taking a while. I went diving last week and I’m really glad I had it as my dive computer. It’s still imo, my best option.

I just wish we had some sort of roadmap or at last a basic list of main features planned for the next update so we know what to look forward to. I feel like many people here have their own expectations and if they don’t get them, they’re going to be disappointed.

                                        Hi there,
Yesterday I also found a part, but I searched with that by “AI” for help, so I finally deleted my post because I was afraid that it was fake information. But according to these, it is not.
I started downloading it too. Did we also get the multi sensor function with charging status display? Soon I will see…
