Wrist power instead of Stryd?
-
Annoyed by this wrist power issue yesterday and today… The 10s salute didn’t help today. Maybe it’ll be okay tomorrow.
Lucky for me it was my season’s main race last Sunday and with this wrist power display bug showing up again this week I can only count my blessings I had no problems on Sunday

@Hannu-Liljemark this is what I found on Suunto Vertical: https://forum.suunto.com/post/176560
are you seeing something similar?

@kurtpenter thanks but no dice… I did reply to that thread as it looks like something I’ve experienced also

Today’s easy run and I’m still getting wrist power. I guess I’ll try to unpair and re-pair the pod with the watch.
Annoying! And Race 2 prices even second hand are too steep for me to try switching to newer watch.
This issue was tolerable for a few months. It’s just this week it seems to be persistent instead of “once every few weeks”.

Finally! With the latest update 2.48.16 everything is working fine again. My beloved 9PP is saved! I’m happy!!!

Hello,
Even after updating my Suunto Race S to 2.48.16, I’m still experiencing several issues:
- The watch sometimes switches to wrist-based power instead of my Stryd, even though Stryd is paired and should be the primary power source
- These issues cause incorrect power spikes/drops and inconsistent data during training sessions
- I still see ghost sensors appearing in the pairing list (devices that shouldn’t be detected at all)
- I frequently have to disconnect and reconnect my Polar H10 because the watch randomly stops using it or fails to connect properly
Thanks for your help!

Almost one year later and this frustrating bug still persists every second or third run for me. We get cool new features like Bluetooth device pooling, but can’t get the basics right like always pulling power data from the (far more accurate) Stryd that’s definitely still connected via BLE.

13 months now and still this bug is outstanding. Every time I run, there’s a 50% chance I need to stop and restart it because it’s using wrist power instead of Stryd, despite being connected to my Stryd.
Is anyone able to provide the 2.40.44 firmware that I can manually load via SuuntoLink?

I recently started using the suunto+ stryd app on my race s and was puzzled why I sometimes see groundcontacttime and other metrics beside power and sometimes only power.
Now I know. I also have the problem that my heartrate sensor looses connection with my watch and doesn’t reconnect. That’s going on for over half a year and no solution in sight.
There might be a next firmware update which might arrive in august but that will not contain a fix. And a firmware after that? I really doubt it.
I will report this to suunto support to keep the pressure on.

Sorry to see this issue persist with Peak Pro and Race. Currently I use Race and I’ve experienced it so many times… during practice I just stop after first few steps when I notice power numbers to be too low and either re-pair he pod or soft boot the watch.
Yesterday it was my season final HM race and of course my freaking watch decided to show wrist power after start even when it was showing Stryd power 15 minutes earlier during my short warmup. Decided not to fiddle with the watch but just go by feel, HR and 5k pace.
I’m giving up on waiting for a fix. Hoping Race 2 or 3S doesn’t suffer from this wrist power display issue if I can find either watch for a decent price.

As far as I know the race 2 also doesn’t have the fix for the bluetooth problem, suunto introduced a year ago. Don’t know about the race 3s. The run 2 does, or at least that firmware shows a bluetooth fix in the latest release notes.
What works for me, is a reboot after every time I charged the watch. Cumbersome? Yes. But better than giving suunto more money for their refusal to fix their firmware.
Edit: and the reboots aren’t perfect. Today I lost the connection to my polar oh1+ after one and a halve hour. Strange enough, my stryd did stay connected. (Oh1+ is an optical sensor, so I can see it’s still working. Only my race s doesn’t show heartrate info anymore)
