Intervals issues on Suunto Race
-
Hi ,
Using the ‘Intervals Workouts’ option within the app I am pairing this with a custom running sports mode and i have created the following
Warmup 5 mins
6 x interval reps
warm down 10 minsBut it doesnt feel like its working correctly
Using sports mode customisation my data fields show both ‘interval distance’ and ‘interval repetition’ but whilst doing the activity both fields are blank. Ive tried ‘interval distance’ as well.
When i get to an ‘interval section’ it beeps and shows the pace i should be going but the data fields dont show anything to tell me which interval im doing or how long I have left on that particular section.
(is this not possible or is it one of the other data fields i should be using?))
The font is also tiny for each interval section reminder which i can barely see.
Is there anyway to increase this?any help appreciated
thanks

@marcus-fox Improvements on Intervals should be coming at some point in the not too distant future.

thanks Brad thats good to know.
Im not the only one experiencing these problems then?
It does make you wonder what the data fields that are in the ‘Intervals’ section are actually used for?
Seems like theres scope to improve a few bits here.
Although overall im enjoying my new Race

That sounds amazing – I’ve been waiting for it for a long time. The way my Suunto Race handles intervals is weird and illogical. But I always knew Suunto would fix it sooner or later, especially after ‘Suunto Run’ was launched and there was a stronger focus on running training.
I can’t wait! -
@marcus-fox for the time being you could try a third-party like intervals.icu (which works great for me) or the intervals that you can program within the watch. The latter works for me for standard stuff like 10*400m.

how do you get intervals icu ? is that a suunto plus app?
what ive now realised is that if I use the interval option toggle built into the standard sports modes it works just fine. i can see count downs of each interval, its very clear when the next one starts and finishes, it works great
( before i was using the ‘intervals workout’ from within the app , which appears as a suunto plus option in a sport mode - this is the one that isnt very good at all, although its easier to configure within the app initially)
so theres two options just to be clear if people weren’t aware ( Suunto Race)

@marcus-fox You’re definitely not the only one hoping for improvements to Intervals. I’m looking forward to seeing progress soon too. I recently switched from Garmin to the Suunto Race, and honestly, Suunto’s structured workouts need to level up to match what Garmin offers.
Fingers crossed we’ll see some updates soon!

@marcus-fox visit http://intervals.icu, register and connect to Suunto. Once you have done this you can plan workouts with a really convenient editor and sync them to your watch as Suunto Guides.
