Frequent beeping after recent firmware update, even when not in a workout [Perhaps due to Stryd?]

Since the recent firmware update to 2.44.46, my Suunto Vertical sometimes beeps frequently (once a minute or more often) when I am sitting, when no activity is on. Nothing shows up on the screen. I have mobile notifications disabled in the watch settings.

I have a suspicion this may have something to do with my Stryd next gen (2023):

      • This only seems to happen when I’m in the same room with my Stryd.
      • Since this started happening, my Stryd runs out of battery after a couple of days even when it’s idling. This didn’t happen before, since the Stryd used to be in low power mode when it’s not in use.

This seems to indicate that my watch for some reason tries to connect with the Stryd even when I’m not starting a workout. If that’s the case, it’s clearly a bug since it just drains batteries with no added value. Or it could be just a coincidence.

Hi @Jique , I also noticed several times after the last update that my watch was vibrating during activity (I have the beep turned off, only vibration is turned on) and no notifications appeared on the watch, and I couldn’t find the cause that would trigger such a notification.

The last time was yesterday during a short hike. The watch vibrated about 20 times in 2 hours. Several vibrations occurred in quick succession, lasting tens of seconds, then nothing for a long time, and then another half hour later.

I don’t use Stryd on Suunto Smart Belt.

@segi_pn I had the same issue, deactivating all Suunto plus apps and climb guidance solved it for me. Must have been some (hidden) notifications from one of these…

I have Race S and only use HR belt, but noticed similar behavior. In my case, the alerts are definitely BT connection to my HR belt. This happens in normal mode, NOT while recording an activity. It only started a couple of days ago when, prior to workout, I went to watch Settings menu to check the battery level of the HR belt directly on the watch for the first time since the update to 2.44.46. Then, after finishing and saving the workout, I took off the HR belt which turns off by itself after few seconds. I don’t disconnect the HR pod from the belt and sometime it turns itself on again, if wet, on it’s own even when not worn for a moment and then turns itself off again after a while. All normal. This can repeat 2-3 times depending how and on what surface the belt is resting. The pod beeps on power on/off, so it’s clear when it powers on/off. The watch had an audible alert right after the pod powered on, just sound, no message on display. The same thing happened later that day when I test powered the HR belt to see if it’s repeatable. Same thing the next day, watch would beep after HR belt power on, not message on watch face. Interestingly instead of soft reset, I tried going to Settings>…>paired HR menu again while the belt was powered off, (only --% battery level shown) and since then the behavior is back to normal. Not sure if that is why it stopped connecting on it’s own, or it is coincidence, but so far so good. Soft reset would probably achieve the same.
Also to note, the watch had definitely higher battery consumption during that period.
So definitely a bug in addition to other issues regarding multiple sensors mentioned on the forum.
