Suunto Ocean SW update 2.40.56 (2025 Q3)
-
@mcardlejon I hope so, I had 3 x Race S watches fail on me in cold exposure and Suunto recommended the Ocean, but now I don’t get the swim feature that I requested over the past years. I do understand that there is more testing involve, but I expect a delay of 1-2 months after other devices release, but at this rate we will be over a year behind on Suunto ocean. I have reached out to Suunto to assist in beta testing multiple times but never get a response. I mere want to help the Ocean and product delays get better.

Hi @pavel.samokha ,
Suunto has many new watch faces - like the latest ‘earth day’, but looks like Ocean is not getting any of them.
Its frustrating, to think that Ocean IS also a multi-sports sports watch.
Why does Suunto only focus on Vertical and Race ?Truly disappointing.
The Suunto Ocean is a great watch, but the fact that, we as owners, are only able to read and view new watch faces and not able to use them, definitely is a unpleasant experience.
Is Suunto going to make these new watch faces available to Ocean users?
On my Suunto plus store, with 1 unit Ocean connected, there are only 44 watch faces available.
These following NEW Watch faces are NOT available:
- Chengdu trail race
- Lightflow
- Outback adventure
- snow slash
- Vector Classic
- Earth Day
Are other Ocean users experiencing the same as me - without the above listed watch faces?
Concerned suunto ocean user

@egorilla an update should come in a matter of weeks I’d say, and that should unlock some newer watchfaces. If the watchface is not supported by the firmware it is blacklisted by your model.
-
Thank you for the insights.
I’m just waiting for the update to arrive, solely for the new watch faces. -
@egorilla I had so feedback from Suunto on Instagram when asked 2/3 weeks ago about Suunto Ocean, and was advised next month, thus I would say we should get it in May, hopefully early in May, and I hope the newer sports features that’s on other models for almost a year will get to the Ocean as well as the new HR algorithms. But I guess time will tell.
I understand that it has more intense testing due to dive standards, but the Ocean is an amazing watch and needs to be treated as that and at least get the newer features if supported within a month after (due to more testing) just my thoughts and recommendations as an avid Suunto user.

thank you for sharing your experience and feedback. appreciated.
lets wait for the update and see, if we - Ocean users, will either rejoice or continue to be numb.would like to check in with you - I read that you had 3 Suunto Race that failed on you during your cold plunge - did the Ocean survive this ordeal?
Nevertheless, tomorrow will always be a better day!

@egorilla Ocean is the best Suunto watch I ever had holding up like a champ, compared to my Spartan Sport WHR, 9 Peak, 9 Peak Pro and Race S.
The Ocean was recommended to me by Suunto themselves for my use case, I just wish they can keep with the updates, as I use it for my sport ONLY, and I feel like I am missing out.

Is there/and when is going to be any update for the Ocean, seriously now? Months ago some admins here were writing soon…any week now and so on. For a premium/flagship Suunto watch which is still on Suunto page at the cover of the page when you open it, this is not how things should work. I understand that it is primarily diving watch but I also would like to have watchface that the Suunto watch which is 3 times cheaper has…and the rest of the gimmicks.
-
@vlado seriously, yes. There is going to be one.
I hope you did not buy this flagship model for the gimmicks though… -
@Egika i did not but when you know that some good update exists…it kind of scratches you
-
I just hope that having modern freediving functions, a heart rate monitor and sensor you can actually use, and a barometer that doesn’t add metres when you’re standing still aren’t considered gimmicks…
