Race 2 - Importing of GPX files from OS mapping (UK) Elevation profile problems..
-
Hi All,
New Suunto user here from the darkside (Garmin)…I live in the Uk and use the OS mapping site to create my hiking routes and then export the GPX file. Previously this has been imported into the Garmin site as a route with the watch picking up the route on it’s next sync - without any issues.
When I try to import an OS GPX into the Suunto app - its recognised fine and loads up in the app showing the route but with no elevation data.
I’ve checked the GPX files - they do contain the elevation data and they import fine into Garmin.
Any ideas why the Suunto app is not picking them up?
Neil.

@Neil-McElroy I can confirm that if I import a GPX it does show elevation if this is in the original file.
I’m also UK based but have never used the OS site. I normally use Kamoot.
I wonder if it is something in the code, years ago I had a Garmin Etrex with a barometer. I had to edit the code whenever I uploaded the GPX to Strava (or anywhere else) otherwise no elevation showed. I can’t remember the exact field I had to change it could possibly be something like this?
If you don’t know, you can open the GPX in a plain text editor and see the data. It should say what created the file.
