Sometimes my Vertical 2 turns off the HR sensor until I take it off and put it back on my wrist. This creates problems reading parameters, especially sleep tracking.
I did a factory reset but it didn’t solve the issue.
The firmware is updated to the latest version.
Has this happened to you too?

It has happened on v1 so I assume it could be firmware related

After 11 days of using V2, OHR, sleep tracking, some GPS activities I got 42% left. Race 1 was charged 1 day after V2, rebooted, everything turned off, just laying on the shelf and also has 42% left…
I don’t know, where Suunto get these numbers. If the discharge rate will stay same, it will last 19 days, but my guess is 15-17 days. OK, it´s UP TO, but even with 19 days it´s 27% less with only one wake per day :-).

@Jan-Suchánek you are talking about the Race 1 battery here?
Maybe better in a different thread, as this one is about Vertical 2.

When will Suunto add the “Vertical 2” section to support, to at least have a record of updates and their contents?
My Vertical 2 has fw: 2.46.12 but what updates and fixes does it contain?
            On the support site:
Vertical 1 shows 2.44.52 with release notes
            Race 2 has no information
Race 1 is nowhere to be found…

I got 13 days with 21% battery left. I have to admit I didn’t expect so good battery life. I had 7h of training with GPS and one hour indoor stretching. AOD off(wrist to wake low) OHR, HRV and sleeptracking on 24/7.

Few things to compare V1 to V2 from casual user point of view:
GPS on both are on same level.
OHR I have tested only on walking and daily use. Both seems to work for me without big difference (no head to head comparison).

Sleep tracking is ok. I have few short nights with V2 as it marked few hours after going to sleep as nap. Todays real nap was spot on.

V2 is more comfortable on wrist. It feels lighter than V1. Might be also because of new wrist band. I tried it also on V1 and it made watch sit better on wrist. Material is more silky, not sticky like V1’s original.

Screen is bigger and more sharp. I had my doubts about Amoled being too ”smartwatch” like. I’ve grown to like it now. I miss MIPS always on kind of display but wrist movement starts the screen fast enough to see time. Playing around with screen on do have quite of impact to battery life. This was no problem with V1. Both have good screens for different purpose. I haven’t test it yet with bike so no comment on that.

If I was to plan long hiking or multiday trip I would take V1 just because it makes same things as V2 without worrying about battery life. V2 is more versatile with better health tracking. Both are great watches with slightly different purpose.
              Sorry for long post🙂

Why sometimes when I run and have for example 141 heart rate (AVG for current lap) I see that I’m on late green zone next time late yellow don’t understand that. Those 5 sections based on the settings which I have should show only heart rate (not zone sense, peace etc)

                Kind regards,
                Tomek

A question for those with the Vertical 2: many reviews say you have to use the screen to go back because there isn’t a dedicated back button like on the Race 2. But from what I’ve found online, if you long-press the middle button you can go back. When using gloves, I expect to rely only on the buttons. Can anyone confirm that the long press works like that? And how long do you have to hold it? Is it quick or annoying compared to the Race 2? Thanks!

No idea where you are looking, but Race 1 is here:
                    https://www.suunto.com/Support/sports-watches-support/suunto-race/
                    https://www.suunto.com/Support/Software-updates/Release-notes/suunto-race-software-updates/

Race 2 and Vertical 2 have not received any updates, they are still on the FW they were released with (that means, the “in box” firmware is different from the one Race 2 and Vertical 2 are running on after taking them to use. This is because serial production starts before the software is finalzed.
What the watches update to when switching them on for the first time is the real “initial” software.

Hope my explanation is not too confusing…

Yes, long middle button is the dedicated back button.
You need to hold it for 1s.
If you are deep in menus, pressing and holding the middle button will go step by step all the way back.

When I connected the Vertical 2 to the Suunto app, a firmware update was downloaded.
I don’t know Suunto’s release policies - typically, the sports watches I use are released with stable software.
I wanted to know what was fixed in the update compared to the preloaded software, since there seems to be a bug in the wrist HR sensor (it turns off without reason).

@Manuel-Extreme The update fixes the OHR problem of turning off when exercising. This should show up in the update information on the Suunto app.
