@bobbyfw03 Hello! So basically it’s the same issue that I have and this is the reason I created this post. Now, after factory reset, I disabled full wakeup and made it to the button, other than that it is about the same. I’m checking for a few days now. If it’s not getting better, I’m definitely returning it back. I love a lot about it but the battery is too important for me.

@Marijus-Siegel hey, I have to say this problem is solved for me. I don’t know what caused this solution but here’s what I changed: Display brigthness to low, Discovery function off, 2x long press upper right button for soft restart. Everything else is like my initial post.
There’s no quick drain anymore. Last 48h was about 7% per day with 2,5h of gps activties and 1h of indoor activity. So this looks like it’s in line with tho states suunto made about battery. Next days I will try to set up brigthness to medium again (but low is still very usable for me) and will see if display brightness has a huge impact. I’m still in charging circle no. 2 so maybe there’s also some kind of calibration about the battery estimation.

@bobbyfw03 wtedy do you mean by Discovery function?

          Kind regards,

@tomahawk5000 in connectivity there is an on and off switch for discovery. Basically the watch is running a Bluetooth discovery mode all the time looking for new devices to connect to. When are you turn this off, It disable this.

I think this actually controls Bluetooth visibility of the watch.
The watch itself is not looking to connect to anything. Discovery needs to be ON, in order to do the initial pairing of the Suunto app with the watch. This should be disabled afterwards so the watch is not visible to Bluetooth beacons for privacy reasons.
If the watch is scanning / connecting to paired sensors outside of activities, that is a firmware bug that has nothing to do with the Discovery switch.

@Stavrogin oh that’s right I always have this option off and I don’t have issue with battery

Ps I thing this is for being invisible for any other devices (eg phones)

My first “normal” week with Vertical 2:

                  • Charged to 100% on sunday evening.
                  • AOD on, Notifications on, Sleep tracking on, 24/7 hr on.
                  • Activities: 10:14 hrs total
                    • eMTB 5:08 hrs, GPS best setting, HR belt (1 hr commute every workday)
                    • Walking 2:23 hrs, GPS best setting, no HR belt
                    • Weight training 2:08 hrs, HR belt
                    • Pool Swimmig 0:35 hrs, no HR belt
                  • Next sunday evening the battery was at 24%

Not sure if this is what I should get, but at the moment I think this feels ok. Did not do any running this week so hopefully 1-2 hrs of running will still get me the whole week without charging.

I would like to make my Vertical 2 better.

It’s eating amperes like it’s chocolate.

                        First use:
no activities. After 15 hours 18% battery drain. No activities.

                        Second use:
I recharged the device. Turned off the discovery mode.

                        In 7 days I had: 100% percent to 15%. With 4,5 h running activities, 1,5 h of this were with HR-band. I found it had a drain of 3 - 4 %/h. That’s with maps on.

                        Third use:
I’ve disabled any notifications and Oxygen as well. After 6 hours it drained to 95%. During the night (8 hours) it drained to 92%. The day was a bit better. At the start of the evening it’s 88%. Now I did a soft reset just now. We’ll see what it does.

Those first 10% are weird. The second day was a bit more in line of the expectation.

How long did it took did your watch take the time to settle in a good battery drain? I’m more than a week in now. I would like to know before my return in 30 days ;-).

Right now I’m not concerned. But one of the reason I bought a watch with a long battery life is durability. I want to use this watch for at least 5 years and be able to run 24 hours with it. Since batteries are draining faster when it gets older, it’s nice to have a lot of buffer at the start.

@Horizontal_2 I am now on my third Suunto, 9 Baro which I kept for 4 years, V1 which was 2 plus years old. I noticed no difference in battery consumption on either watch.

On the V2 I am getting about 9 days with 10-12 hours GPS a week and about 6 non GPS.

Watch is on AOD but needing a button press to make the screen active.

24h heart rate is off. Sleep tracking is off. Notification are on. Brightness levels are low.

In GPS mode I’m very impressed with V2.

For reference with the V1 I’d get about 2 weeks with similar GPS.

@cosme.costa In my case, this condition never had to be met. Apart from the well-known incident a year ago, I have noticed normal battery consumption in SV1.
