@vinc14 Not normal, it’s an App bug.
Workaround: force stop and restart Suunto App. You don’t need to restart phone, only app.

Suunto T3D, Suunto Spartan Trainer, Suunto Spartan Ultra (retired), Suunto 9 Baro (retired), Suunto 9 Peak (retired), Suunto Vertical Titanium Solar, Suunto Race S, Suunto Race 2 Ti.

@Stavrogin That answer makes 100% sense, but I trust ChatGPT just about 0%.

@duffman19 that’s why I quote it. I agree I don’t totally trust anything on the internet including here. I only offer it because it might offer a solution. I will try disconnecting and reconnecting each run. It only takes a minute and then one of my two issues will be resolved if only until it is fixed via firmware. I can always charge more often. I don’t want to and I am excited to have Vertical-like battery life back, but when my tech poops the bed mid run I start to question if I need that tech.

@Stavrogin Gotcha. I was just making an easy joke. And I really do think that answer makes total sense, but I know almost nothing about the inner workings of these things.

It’s interesting that some users are experiencing total BT disconnections midway through activities. I’ve only experienced quick disconnects, usually only lasting a second or two. But it’s still really annoying to get those connection notification vibrations throughout an activity.

My big issue remains the inability of the software to correctly connect to whichever external HR sensor I’m trying to use (I alternate between two). One solution I use it to unpair and then newly re-pair the sensor right before using it. And, as you suggested, this usually results in a good BT connection throughout the activity. So there’s that.

Here’s to hoping the Q4/Q1 update(s) will bring BT connection progress!

I don’t recognize any battery fix unfortunately 😕
Frankly, my Peak pro 9 never kept more than 7 days. I have been using it for 1.5 years. 24/7 tracking is on, Raise to wake off.
The last year the battery holds 3-4 days and no more.
Usually, the first 24 hours it looks promising with ~14% usage, but then the depleting growth to 20% -> 30% a day.
The main reason to choose Suunto was it’s battery life for which I was ready to compromise the MIP display. Comparing my choice to any known brand with AMOLED display makes me feel uncomfortable.

After a month with Garmin Fenix 8 Amoled I can confirm, there was no reason for PP9 with MIP display to burn it’s battery so fast.
Garmin knows to keep at least 2 weeks with AMOLED!

@Stavrogin ChatGPT (or any other LLM) can fabricate non existing stuff. It can describe to you non existing API of software. It can even “quote” non existing manual pages 🙂 so if don’t have possibility to examine firmware spurce code with hardware schematis than don’t trust it at all. It can make sence when you read it but it can be made up at same time.

@Sergey-Balbir well that’s a bit of an unfair comparison, since the S9PP was released long before the Garmin Fenix 8. Modern Suuntos like the Vertical 2 also run two weeks (and more) wit Amoled displays.

                          Partially agree with you.
S9PP promised 21 days of battery life in smartwatch mode. I have never got 1 full week with 2 gyms, 1 swimming and 1.5h of GPS activity.

Battery life in smartwatch mode is always without any activity, and it is the same for all brands

Currently enjoying race 2, wife on SRs

@Josaiplu of course with any activity it is accordingly lower. But it is still good battery life.

@Sergey-Balbir fully understand your frustration. Should be at least close to advertised „runtime“

@Sergey-Balbir From my experience, do you have enabled the Raise To Wake or Standby light in display settings? This eats the battery.

I had an interesting occurrence today. I purchased a used Vertical on eBay. When I received it the battery was dead so I started charging it. The previous owner did not reset it so I had to do two things. A. Update it because that also had not been done and B. Reset it. The watch said that the battery had to be at 20% to do the update and 40% to do the reset. I charged it to 20% and did the update. Then I went to 40% and did the reset. Strangely when the watch started back up after the reset it showed 85% battery. I never charged it past 40%.

I don’t know what it means, but it might be a piece to our puzzle. I know people just want their batteries to work properly, but posting to try to help.
