Does anyone know if the offline maps are available while diving and do the maps have underwater topography? Based on what I’ve found about the Ocean, it sounds like the answer is no. But it would be very useful to have the topography for navigation when shore diving. Thanks.

@Craig-Thompson They are not available for mainly two reasons:

        • I’ve never seen free of charge sea charts. I’ve given up diving, but for still I’d be happy to get my hands on such maps. Please send me links if you know of any.
        • GPS signals are easily blocked by water. You couldn’t use the maps while being underwater. People in this forum are even reporting wiggly open water swimming tracking. It’s just a fact that there should be an above-water antenna for the whole time.

I stand corrected. Here’s a free web site, but emphasis is on boating. There are a few other sites as well and obviously mobile apps too. It’s still little or no use to have these on your watch.

Mapping is available on the Garmin x50i. Not looking for GPS underwater, just having the topographic map to look at would be extremely helpful when shore diving.
