No Powermeter Data from IC7 Indoor Cycling Bike
-
Hello!
I’m using an IC7 Indoor Cycling Bike with a powermeter and my Suunto Race S used to show my power value on the watch at least a couple of month ago.
Unfortunately, the power value is no longer displayed, even though the watch is connected to the IC7.
What could be the reason for this?Thank you!

I have the problem with my power meter on the bike. Since the last two updates the power meter is connected as “foot pod” with the CSCS protocol (speed and cadence) and not as “power pod” with the CPS protocol (cadence and power) as in older firmwares.
Suunto should bring back the option to choose how to connect the power meter (foot or power pod) and not connect it automatically.

I do have a super weird behaviour since the last firmware update with the polar verity sense heartrate sensor. In walking it pairs and works but not in swimming… super sad.
Sounds like they messed up bluetooth.
Please Suunto fix this. -
@HazerRacer if it doesn’t pair automatically, just select is under sensors prior to the activity.

Seems to be a bigger problem with (all?) bike pods
Hope it is solved with the next firmware, my Elite Misuro is also returning nothing

@zucchero Who makes the IC7?
(Edit: Actually, nevermind my response here — if you previously got power (watts) data over, and it stopped, then my explanation won’t help as it must have been using CPS)
I know for the Schwinn IC4 (also called the IC8 in some markets and is also the Bowflex C6) it has two ways to send cycling data.
The first is by “Bluetooth FTMS (FiTness Machine Service)” and this protocol sends power (watts) and cadence (rpm). This is used in apps like Zwift, Fulgaz, Rouvy, MyWhoosh, etc. However, this protocol is not supported by Suunto nor any other smartwatch maker I know.
The second protocol is by “Bluetooth CSCS (Cycling Speed and Cadence Service) which only sends cadence data and not power. This protocol is primarily for the use of the Peloton app, that does not support FTMS (and indeed, has no way to get cycling power from non-Peloton bikes). If you see cadence but not power then Suunto may be using this protocol with your IC7.
There’s another protocol “Bluetooth CPS (Cycling Power Service)” which obviously does send power (watts) and cadence (rpm), but the Schwinn/Bowflex bikes do not send use this (despite estimating power) and only use FTMS. If your bike uses CPS then Suunto should be able to get that data.

My power meter is broadcasting CSCS and CPS. In older firmwares I could choose foot pod (CSCS) or power pod (CPS).
Now Suunto does the choice and connects CSCS only. No possibility to connect CPS.
That is the problem.
