Pairing failure between Suunto Vertical 2 and Pixel 9 Pro
-
Hello crew,
I have read the pairing issue posts and am wondering if there has been a fix identified yet.
There appears to be a common theme where Pixel phones are failing to pair with Suunto watches.
Here is my situation:
A newly purchased brand new Suunto Vertical 2 watch, initial setup goes well until it prompts to connect to Suunto App. I then access the App on my phone, which shows “Found a Device” and prompts with the “PAIR” button. The phone then attempts to pair with the watch but immediately flashes “Couldn’t pair with Suunto Vertical 2” and the watch flashes the pairing PIN for a third of a second (Way too fast to read) and then states “Pairing Failed” on a Red screen.
I have tried resetting the Bluetooth, factory resetting the watch, removing and reinstalling the Suunto App, turning off WiFi and cellular data, allowing all permissions to Suunto. I cannot pair either thru the App or straight to the watch thru normal Pairing procedures. I have tried the split screen work around and non of these have made it possible to pair the two.
I am however able to pair the watch with my Samsung tablet and able to pair accessories with the watch like a heart rate monitor.
It definitely appears to be a Google Pixel issue rather than a watch issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For the information of people with this same Pixel phone problem, I have finally succeeded in pairing my watch and phone by rebooting my phone into “Safe Mode” thereby preventing all third party Apps that may be interfering from starting, then pairing the Bluetooth by traditional means (select watch from available list and entering provided PIN code). Then restarting the phone (so as to allow all apps to start correctly) and logging into the Suunto App as usual and pairing again (using the watch symbol in top left), this time the watch paired correctly and synched as designed.
Thanks for listening.
