      Hi,
Just started to use Race S and have a question if it is not possible to use the timer function at the same time to have an activity running?

E.g. I am doing Calisthenics training and some exercises are 30 sec activity for which I want to use the timer function.

      Can this be done?

@Anders-Bornstedt you can use the gym timer Suunto plus app, which allows you to predefine timers before you start. I think there’s also a calisthenics app too specifically for that?

@Anders-Bornstedt Perhaps the easiest solution is to use the lap time which you can reset by pressing the lap button. You can create a customized activity profile in the Suunto App with the lap time shown on your main data screen.

@Anders-Bornstedt there is also a Suunto plus app called “stopwatch”. Haven’t tried it myself so can’t tell if it’s any good though.

@SamuelP Ideally, Suunto would already allow users to push an ongoing activity into the background for a while.

In this time you can use stopwatch or timer.

@Anders-Bornstedt said in Using timer at the same time as an activity:

possible to use the timer function at the same time to have an activity running?

Since it’s 3 days since you asked the question, you probably know the answer already. But here goes:

The ‘Timer’ widget on a Race S (Countdown/Stopwatch) can be started before an activity and run concurrently with that exercise. I tried both a dry run “Running” and a “Calisthenics” session.

The countdown can be set to a “Custom” value (I tried 0:00:30 for 30 seconds) as well as the fixed quick options 1 min, 3 min etc. Defined, and started by the upper button, we can then leave by pressing the bottom button - and quickly launch the exercise session.

The ‘Timer’ then throws up its screen above any other screen; starting to beep and vibrate each second 10 seconds before the end time, with the final beep being looong. Unfortunately there is no ‘Repeat’ function, so we have to “Restart” the countdown again with the upper button (exposing the underlying running exercise screen), or using the “Dismiss” function by pressing the bottom button.

Not choosing an option while running the ‘Timer’ outside of an exercise will ultimately end the timer when the screen goes black or falls into the Always On Display. During an exercise (using the full AOD there), the ‘Timer’ screen did not exit due to inactivity - at least for the ca 1.5 minutes I waited.

It works quite well overall, but a 30 seconds setting is rather noisy… That means 20 seconds of beeping every minute. Yikes!
