Suunto Run - too easy to stop a run accidentally
-
Hi,
I did my first outdoor run with my Suunto Run today. Overall it seemed to perform quite well but there was one big irritation: I like to pause the watch manually when I stop at lights, then restart it. Annoyingly, on one occassion when I pressed the crown to “Resume” my run I accidentally scrolled down to “End” instead and had to start a brand new run.
A couple of observations from this:
- It’s very easy to accidentally scroll down when you go to press the crown, especially when wearing gloves.
- Why is the End option so close to Resume and why does it not even give any “are you sure?” message to confirm you wanting to end the run?
I’m actually a bit confused why the resume button can’t just use the same button as pause (the top button). It seems like it does show that button as being resume for the first few seconds then it goes to the menu where you need to use the crown button instead. It’s not a great user experience.
Maybe I am missing some way to configure this differently? I couldn’t find anything in the settings.

Totally agree. The flow with Suunto Race for me is quite better.
Already had several issues with different activities finishing them by accident.

@Charlie-Needham Something I have been concerned about but didnt see any reports of till now. Is it the same when starting a run? Since the crown is used to start, did you ever scroll in that situation too?

@Charlie-Needham I’ve been using the Suunto Run since May 2025 when it came out and I’ve never stopped a Run by mistake, good for me?
Not many reports since this, does auto pause might do the trick for you? Check it out.
